Default climber tree stand pulic lands

Checked in the Pa. Hunting book about using a climber on public lands. Kinda vague. The climber I have does dig into the tree slightly, but not sure I would call that harming it. What's the deal? Yes or No...Thanks

Suppose to be> If it cuts the outer layer of tree, it's illegal.

All stands leave marks, so basically , it's a crap shoot.

Better we fall from a tree than to damage the tree bark.

Birds, ants and animals all tear up trees and they still live on. This law should be looked over again, and cliarified. Like said before, i use to hunt in the same trees over and over for Many years, and all i could see was very small little marks in Some of the trees by the next season.

I believe it says Cambium Layer wich is the inner layer, not the bark. A stand can not penetrate that, scuffing bark is not an issue.

Thanks, it does very little scrapes to the bark. Guess I'll be Ok. I've always hunted w a gun, 1st year archer. Managed to take a doe luckily already.
Another question, everthing seems little different with archery. For years I always hunted in the stand before the sun comes up. Or go in the stand for the afternoon/dusk action. Because of work I was thinkin about goin after a nightwork...which means I wouldn't get in the stand til around 930/1000. Think I would be wastin time? Should I just wait til the afternoon? Any thoughts?

Lilman if thats the time you have to hunt then do it and get out there and enjoy yourself. I personally have taken a lot of deer from 9-2 espec when hunting pressure gets heavy during the gun seasons. All day sits are nice to if you have the time and can do it, but all depends on the property you hunt. For me it changes things up some instead of the normal am/pm hunts.....good luck this season

In Pa. if you are on public land, screw in steps are technically illegal. Strap on ladders and sticks and strap on umbellas are not. On private land you can use em with written permission from the owner of the land.
