Default Anyone hunting fall turkey?

Well if you are half as obsessed with turkey hunting as I am, then you know now is the time to get really great deals on stuff for fall turkey hunting. I saw the ground cover stuff on sale at Bass pro this past weekend. Start looking now so you are ready this fall, and of course next spring also. The summer is a good time to share deals as we find them so spread the word if you spot any deals.

I do plan on going out this year, but torn on when to head up. I am glad they closed fall turkey in 5C though. Not sure yet about when to go. Either before bear season or after bear season.

I got it a lot easier in Jersey, I just get my fall permit then set up my ground blind near the roost. See I can sit and fall deer hunt while I wait for my turkey, or vice versa. Which ever comes first this year is fine with me, I'll be sitting with my cross bow in my lap and trying not to snore too loud. I love overlapping seasons!

Don't get me wrong Hoyt, I'm focused on deer, I just like the added fun of hunting turkey at the same time. Since I've yet to kill a bird with the stick and string, I think this year in the fall may be my first. I have killed bearded hens in the fall before, they taste the same as normal hens.

During fall turkey putts and purrs work really well, mostly when they are gathering during early morning and right before roost. Immitate scratching also helps if you see them in the distance. Also the answer to spooking deer is NO definitly not. I have had many deer in my lap while calling birds. Works the same as a secret weapon in fall bow season because the birds are eating the acorns as much as the deer and when 2 hens get fussing it up in the woods the deer seem to want to see what they are fighting about.
