Has anyone ever looked into improving their local WMA land? I moved to South Jersey and have found that the WMAs down here are nothing like up north. Most of the land up north is well maintained and supplemented with crops. All of the WMAs that I have been to down here are going to crap. The fields are all turning to brush and briar patches and are barely navigatable. There is absoultely no crop land. While the chances of establishing a population of wild quail and pheasants is very difficult, it was done before mostly out of quality land management alone. My grandfather had hunted wild pheasants in this state for years at a time when they weren't nearly stocked like they are today. I would even be willing to volunteer my own farm equipment and time to the cause. Other midwest states have very successful programs that could be duplicated. Any thoughts and/or suggestions?
