I have a Remington 870 rifle with a slip on scope. (http://cdni.llbean.com/is/image/wim/221929_0_41?wid=330&hei=295) When I shoot with the scope sometimes the kickback jams the side of the scope holder and slices open my finger. Does this happen to anyone else?

I use the cantilever barrel, I know its a lot of money, but no issues. That mount looks like it could be painfull.

B-Square mounts are a royal pain in the ace if you don't know what your doing. Take it to a gun shop or a gun smith and have them take a look at it.

I have the same set up and have never had a problem. Which finger is it cutting?

My trigger finger, but this is only when I do not think about how I am shooting, I just need to move my finger down below the scope mount.

Yea it is but the back end of my trigger finger hits.
Get a better system. Go Cantilever- no more problems, period. Firmer grip. Hold tight all the way through the whole shot- that means recoil with cheek down. It may help to learn to shoot it with glove on. Look at the guys at Field & Stream, see what they use. All in all, the cantileve is the best solution.

Do you use this gun just for deer hunting deer?If you keep the barrel on all the time and you do not want to spend the money for a new barrel get your 870 drilled and tapped. With the cost of base and rings it will cost less than $100.00 .If you change barrels to hunt other thing it's a pain to keep changing the base on and off then a new barrel is the way to go.I have drilled hundred's over the years and they never have a problem.
