for the last 3 years I have taken my son out on youth day.. Sat most of the day only coming out to the truck to eat and then back to the blind. He has one small doe to his efforts. I now have a nice buck running our hunting area and was just wondering what set up do guys use on youth day.. (ie) bait, bait, bait or scent usage, grunt and vocal calls, or total stealth, ground blind or from aloft, Give me your best youth day set up and tactics.. Remember youth day is Nov. 22nd. take a kid hunting..

throwing out bait now may spook that deer.
keep it simple.
play the wind, doe in heat drag on the way in.
in a tree you can get away with a lot more movement

definitely stay in a tree.
if your gonna use calls you can but dont over use them.
if he is in the woods now he should stay there with all the hot does,
but i would cross your fingers just in case.
good luck.

Bait works for us. Ive taken my boy sout each year for four years. We have a $120 double stand in some thick stuff. I put a feeder there this year but previous years I scatted corn... starting a about two weeks out.

Last year I could only put corn out the week prior and then again two nights before the hunt. We were in the stand all of ten minutes when a young buck walked in a beeline to the corn.

each year its about the same thing... corn works well if you can get your stand in some thick stuff. without a double stand, we'd probably see nothing and itd be very hard to get a shot if we did..... the stuff is 3-4 feet high and you cannot see the deer well on the ground...
