Headed up to the cabin on Sunday, to hunt with clients from Tennesee. Headed out on Sat, to some of my best grouse spots and pointed and flushed 7 grouse. The guys just couldn't connect! Headed to another spot to hunt some more grouse and possibly some hold over cock birds.
Got down in the swamp and Ticket came to a solid point. Flushed a single cock bird. At the fall of the first bird, two more cock birds busted from the same cover. Misses were registered. This cock bird had beautiful 1/2 hooks! We set the dogs out again, Briar got on a running bird. She pinned the bird down, between her and Ticket. The bird broke and tried to make it up in to the hemlocks. No luck, client Russ, smoked it.
Once again, this bird had 1/2 hooks. If I didn't know any better, I would say that they were hold overs from last year or the year before. Great day with the guys. We ended our two days with 12 grouse/ points and flushes and 4 pheasants pointed and flushed. Not bad, not bad at all.
