from my place it's a 5 hour ride up there.
it's not pretty, just a big fenced in area that has a bunch of different animals. plus elk and bison in small pastures waiting to be released in the big pen.
it is what it is.

A buddy of ours went to some place out near Lancaster, I think. It was an island on the Susquehana if I'm not mistaken. Not high fence, but they still raise and release animals on the island.
He joked and said he told the owners of the place, "I'm feeling confident today, boys. You can take the pig off the leash".:D
We do have a population of wild pigs in PA, but I don't think they're wide spread enough yet to make them huntable.

If you take the hunt in Tioga Co. watch you don't get tangled in the fence that keeps the boar from running away. And the black bear hunt is even better. The bears are in cages, you climb a ladder in the back of the cage then shoot it. Talk about sporting, you know how hard it is to hit a bear in the back from 15 feet while it's eating. Once saw a hidden movie about it, this guy wanted a mountain goat, had three arrows in it and the goat was still alive. It was relly sad to see, then the guy taking pictures with it like he just came out of the Rockies. Just looks bad for hunters to those who don't understand hunting. Very sad...

Wild boar in Pa are escapes from canned hunts. They're in Bedford, Cambria, Wayne, Huntingdon, and Blair, Counties. The reason why the PGC dosen't want anybody hunting them is because they are trapping them. Feral hogs can be pushed very easily when hunted. The USDA dosen't want them pushed so they can be trapped then disposed of. Hunting them (at least right now) would push them who knows where and then we could never be able to get rid of them. Trapping is a safer way. Although the PGC just lifted then bann recently so who knows. I wouldn't even say they have established a popualtion yet, maybe something more like a seudo population since they are spread so far and thin. But yeah we gotta get rid of them. They are MAJOR carriers of diseases!
those hunting farms buy alot of rams (sheep) goats from new holland sale stables see there trucks up there all the time they buy anything with big horns take it back if you hunt there you can go into a barn pick your animal with a price tag on it they let it go you shoot not a sport of my liking

Correction. The PGC wants them shot on site. It's in the book.

Here I'll quote myself before I show you. Although the PGC just lifted then bann recently
Release #117-08
GAME COMMISSION REMOVES PROTECTION ON FERAL SWINE
HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe recently rescinded protection on feral swine found in the wild in Butler, Bedford and Cambria counties.
“In May, when we removed protection on feral swine in Pennsylvania, we maintained the protection on them in Butler, Bedford and Cambria counties to facilitate trapping by the U.S. and Pennsylvania departments of Agriculture,” Roe said. “Trapping is viewed as the most effective way to remove feral swine from the wild, because it limits their dispersal into new areas.
“However, as we are now outside the time of year in which trapping is most effective, we want to afford hunters the maximum opportunity to remove feral swine that they encounter while participating in the upcoming big game seasons.”
The rest or the report may be view here: http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?Q=175360&A=11
I see no correction here, just maybe a misunderstanding. The above story should explain it better. It's in the PGC website.

no hear say.
drive by this place one time, you won't pay to hunt there.
there used to be a few guys from quebec that, if they didn't get a deer they would go there and get a boar. they would be back within the hour.
the elk and bison were in , maybe 10ac pastures. you could shoot aross it with any rifle. if they put them in the big "pen" you would have to "hunt" for them. i think it's 100ac, could be wrong, but not that wrong.
to each his own.

He got the bear (two shots) about 225# We were getting so good tracking and finding bear that we started to do all the outfitting for the guy's that we took up there, not everyone got a bear but most did. Unless you went on the bear hunt at tioga yourself then what you are passing on (about the bear hunts) is just hear-say. Anti hunting groups are great for spreading the same stuff. Thats was my only point
BTW I have yet toke a bear hunt but do have some private ground ied up if jersey eer has another one.

It's not hear-say, it's documented. Inquire about a hunt there see what they have to say about the bear hunting... in any case..
Good luck getting your first bear, you need any pointers let me know.
Always willing to help a fellow barner...
Hope your taking a good rifle/bullet combo. Bear are tough. Make your first shot count, aim for the shoulder, break bone, be ready for that 2nd shot. Only a opinion...
