Check out H&R 20 ga slug hunter. Tack driver and inexpensive! A little on the heavy side but next to zero recoil and trigger is sensitive! Had mine for 4 yrs now and love it!

my mossberg 12 with rifled barrel and lightfield slugs deadly out to 125 meters.. my farthest confirmed kill was 112 meters last day of season on huge doe 3 ft of snow needed a tractor to get her out of the swamp.....I have a 80 meter zero holding 4 inches high at 110 meters and 2 inches low at 50 meters.. In my opinion you need to get a gun you are happy with and shoot it.. It took me several trips to the range to find out what my mossberg liked. almost 100 rounds before I had my final setup then alot of practice... I must have a ton of lead down range from my shotgun trials.. We even did penetration and expansion trials shooting into phone books taped together in a milk crate. then we would cut them out.....I would not try and rush a set up for this season.( unless you live on a range and have unlimited time and money) but a good time to start planning for next year....

I second that! I love mine! And the heaviness is a good thing in my opinion

I used a 12 gauge Mossburg with scope for many years, Great pump gun. I use Brenikie's with this one.
Now due to my bad shoulder, the last few years i have been using my daughters 20 gauge Mossburg pump, and i Love it. I use Lightfeilds with this one.
I have taken many deer with both, Great guns

Both guages will kill any whitetail. Find a gun that fits you and find a load that groups good. Ed.

I love my Marlin 512 bolt 12 ga
I shoot the Hornady SST slugs and punch the same hole @ 100 yards
I zeroed it @ 150 so I hold 2.5 inches high @ 50 and 100... it will drop 6 inches @ 200
Absolutely love this set up... its a shame I never put down my bow this past season, I'm interestd to see what it can do in the woods
