first woodcock sightings

heard my first woodcock fly out in the afternoon saturday.
saw my first flush today, in my yard.
they are starting to show in numbers.
i used to hunt them alot, always a spot in my heart for them.
used to ride my bike with the gun on the handle bars and go gunning everyday after school.

We had 4 or 5 flying around waiting for 8:00 Saturday. We kicked up atleast another half dozen in the hour of hunting.

saw another bird at the same exact spot.
it flushed the same exact direction.

Went out Saturday morning and the first bird I saw was a woodcock flying right at me. Was hoping for a pheasant but it was definatly too fast for that! Back out tuesday afternoon and only saw woodcock.:huh:
