Ask around to people who used them....I tried them and hated them...they opened up when you put them in the quiver, they open when the rubber gets older or worn...you wil look down and see that you have a dangling blade...cost friends of mine a deer..didnt fly good out of my bow...with the larger cutting surface and way they open makes easier for deflection on quartering away shots...when the deer are standing dead broadside and you shoot an arrow and the blades work properly, they do some damage...but too many things that go wrong with them...my cousin showed up to hunt the other day with rage 3 blade...i noticed he had no rubber O ring..asked him about it and he said it took a crap and wouldnt hold the blades so he glued it!!!!!!!!!!! screw that!!!!!!!!!! just my opinion...stay away from them...

There are just as many positive stories. I made a little high & back shot that these heads saved my ass. The holes are huge & i don't have any trouble with them staying closed on the string or in the quiver.

They are garbage.... They flop open, and deflect regularly.....The market is full of better performing broadheads.

Dicks sells them.
I haven't read many reviews about them, but all the pictures of dead deer that I saw that were shot with rage broadheads had massive holes and great blood trails. Rage broadheads come in handy especially when it doesn't hit the intended spot, but I wouldn't recommend taking unethical shots with them anyways.
Not to hijack this thread, but those of you who do not like these heads, what brand of mechanicals do you recommend?

I love the rage broadheads I have not had a problem. I would guess that the guys that dont like them probobly dont like any mechanical heads. A lot of people just prefer fixed heads.

I use mechanical heads....and I switched to Rage when I saw the huge hits on the Drury Brothers hunting c.d. I hated them!!!!!! I went back to spitfire pro series 100 grain....ive killed many many deer with these heads...but didnt like the rage...all the guys I hunt with switched back as well....in note one thing..when the rage made it big in 2006 the drury bros. shot them( for endorcements im sure) what did they shoot in 2007? not them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spitfire pro 100's also. I have used spitfires for the past 10 years and never (knock on wood) lost a deer. The biggest buck I've killed 230lbs live weight, went 5 yards and fell over backwards right in front of me. No o rings always open and shoot like field points.

Rocket makes a nice head..The 100 grain steel heads are the best exp. I've tried.I have since switched back to fixed head.

I shot three deer this year with the Rage 3 blade. #1 deer, a 105 lb. dressed doe shot broadside at 22 yards. Complete passthrough with the arrow buried in the ground 6". Stand up trackjob, blood all over the place. 2nd deer was a 85 lb. doe, shot quartering away shot behind the last rib and went to the front leg but didn't come out of the skin . No blood trail but wasn't needed, because she went no further than 50 yards. Deer #3 was a 125 # little nine pointer that was shot quartereing away .The arrow went in behind the second to last rib and stopped at the heart. No exit but the deer went about 80 yard and I heard it crash into a oak tree. My bow is set at 56# and shoots around 255 feet per second, not a super powerhouse as compared to some of the bows today. The Rage has worked good for me. I think a bowhunter can have great success with any broadhead that flys perfect out of a bow tuned for that arrow and is shot at a deer that is standing still in the right position. I tried the Montecs and they wouldn't hit were my field points did. The Rage fly like my field tips so thats what I'm going with.

I also use rage and they hit same as my field points, which allows me to continue to shoot throughout the hunting season with out changing anything or dulling heads. Nothing this year but last year 3 for 3 with the rage three blades.

I used Vortex 2 blades, 100gr. for about 8 years, really liked them but the last few packages I got were not very sharp. They flew great and left a huge hole. I started using the Rage heads last year. They do open in your quiver so I just fix them when I take them out and put them on the string. I have killed 2 deer with them, huge hole, no problem with the blood trail, both deer dropped within 30 yards. I think you just have to use what your comfortable with and what flies well out of your bow. I can't get a fixed blade to fly the same way twice out of my bow. I shot muzzy's and Thunderheads for a while, then moved to an expandable when someone told me they would fly like my field points. I didn't even practice with them, I put on the Vortex, stuck a nice buck, he ran 20 yards.

i use montecs by g3. they are 3 blade and come together already (1 piece). i shot a deer with one last year. it had two little rust spots on it and no chip or nothin and it even hit the ribs:cool:. i love them but they are a bit pricy at 35 for 3. they come in 85 100 and 125 grain im pretty sure. i use 85 grains but i shoot at 40 lbs.(im only 13 and use an old bow with a low let off).:fight:

If you hit the vital zone you won't have a problem with any broadhead. I've killed several deer with the rages. No Problem! Good hits, complete pass through, on 2 of the deer the broadhead went through 2 ribs. I sharpened the blades & reused them. I also made 1 gut shot, coyotes got that one & one stuck in the bone high in a shoulder. My fault not the broadheads.
Try em' if your confident with them use them. Sportsmen Center in Bordentown & all of the Dick's stores have them.
