GPS unit for hunting

I want to upgrade my present basic gps. Anyone offer any suggestions based on personal experience? I would appreciate it.

if you have a smartphone get the cabelas recon hunt app. i personally think its 10 times better than my garmin! in fact i dont even use the garmin anymore

Take a look at the Rhino's. They are awesome. A littel pricey, but really nice.

I bought an eTrex because I wasn't happy with the performance of my iPhone. It is a nice little unit and after playing with it for a day I found it easy to use. I can save a track or a waypoint easily.

It is accurate, acquires a signal quickly and so far seems to run forever on a coupple of AA batteries.

the only thing I have not figured out is the built in compass.

It does not have a belt hook to wear it on a belt. It is small enough to keep in your pocket. I put mine on a lanyard and wear it around my neck.
