For field hunting, you will need all of those decoys. But if you are willing to head out to the Delaware Bay marshed, 3 dozen shells is plenty. Get a Big River goose call and blow the high note only. Snows will respond to this. Don't do the Canada goose thing with a lot of calling, just a single note spaced out with 10 or 20 seconds in between. Try and get between two roosting flocks. Small groups will trade between them and you can definitely decoy and call those birds. The difference between hunting the marshes and fields is amazing. The tactics you use in the marsh are about 180 degrees different than those used in fields. I enjoy the challenge of hunting snows, but am not interested in setting out 300 hundred decoys or more for what is a hit or miss proposition in most cases. Hunt low tide, many of the meadows are hard and can be walked on to set your shells. You will also have the current pushing you in when it is time to go home. Concentrate on the lower flying birds as far as calling, and especially the singles or small groups, which you will see on the marsh, but probably not so much in fields. There are also good spots to walk out in the marsh if you don't have a boat.

I only go a couple of times after duck season chance, if I have an opportunity I will let you know. But I am happy to share what I have picked up over the years. And everything I know was shown to me by Bob B of Millville, aka Snowgoose Bob and PMF. I think he is the best snow goose hunter in NJ. And not because he kills the most, but because he understands them in the local habitat. I've watched this guy call snow geese away from decoys they were about to light into and come over to us where we were standing about 200 yeards away(we were walking back to our set after retrieving a couple of cripples). His tactics will work anywhere along the NJ Delaware Bay shore.
Most people in NJ pass shoot snows. That puts meat in your truck but is not near as fun as decoying and calling birds. Working a snow goose in to range with decoys and a call is challenging because of the nature of the birds, but the game is plentiful and you will see a lot of geese.
