OK. I see all the reports on the bow hunting forum but nothing here. Anyone else go out? I got my first doe with a crossbow on Saturday night. Sat in the tree for 3 hours. I had one fawn under me for over an hour scratching her butt on my ladder stand. All of the sudden, she perks up and high tails it out of the area. 2 minutes later a nice big doe comes in at 20 feet. I hit a perfect shot. Of course, she ran to the bottom of a ravine and was a bugger to drag out! Anyone else got a story to share????:D

I was lucky enough to connect on a big doe saturday morning. I was using my horton vision. The shot was hard quartering away at thirty yards. I put my 2 blade gators in right next to her back right ham and it exited through her shoulder. Deer went 30 yards and piled up!

I shot one on Monday with my crossbow. The first for this new crossbow. I bought it at the gun show for $100 and it shoots sweet! Kills deer dead too. I had a 20 yard shot and the deer only went not even 50 yrds. Got to admit my friend went the extra mile and bought a real nice Barnet crossbow only to have it explode 3 days before the season opened. I have read many posts of issues with the high end bows, so I figure for $100 I'm already owed nothing even if the thing craps out. Of course you know it will probably last for years and years and give me no excuse to ever even look at one of those high dollar fancy crossbows that weigh like 6 times as much. :D 1 Doe down, now it's on the next critter.

Buck Tales, I have the Barnett Penetrator. It was a little more than $100 but was fairly inexpesive. I have only shot it about 40 times (all practive and my one doe on Saturday) but so far so good. I keep hearing about the Barnett problems, but I also hear that was older models and the problem is now fixed. I guess I have to hope they are right. I am going out this weekend looking for my first buck. Been huntin 5 years and still have not shot a buck with horns yet. I am hoping this is my season.

Tom congrates on your doe. Where are the pics? The ladies deserve some air time too. Why do folks only post pics of the bucks? A wise old doe will out do a sex crazed monster any day and twice on Sunday!!!

Went out this morning to be greated with what looked like daylight. Worried that the deer would have made it to their beds early. I was right. Not one deer came through my spot. 4 out to the 5 hunters on our properties had the same fate. No deer movement. Guess I'll be at it again on Wed. Good luck to all. Bring on the dark skies!!!

Russ, I was out Saturday morning as well. It was bright as could be walking into my stand. Too much moonlight for the morning. Did not see anything move other than 2 turkeys who buzzed my head coming out of their roosts at sunup. Can't wait for the moonlight to go away.

Went out this morning on my property out back. 620 was greeted with the snorting of a doe 50 yards away. Damn swirling winds. She was looking away as she stomped but made her way way south of me. Then about 10 mins later another doe about 80 yards away did the same thing. Couldnt have smelled me as I had the wind. No deer got out of the stand about 800. Will be back out tomorrow morning for a bit before work. Good luck to all.

I went out Saturday night. I got eaten alive by mosquitos and did not see a single deer. I have to find a thermacell or I am going to run out of blood soon. It was so hot out that you could see steam coming up from the ground. It sound like it is going to cool of this weekend. Hopefully that will get some deer moving!
