I've been shooting an older Mathews since about 2000. It's a SoloCam Featherlight. With the price of new bows these days, I'll keep it as long as it puts the deer down. She's still clocking 268fps and I love the way it shoots. Although I don't think I've chronographed her since I put on a Whisker Biscuit.

PSEs are nice bows, too. It sounds like it's working for you, too.
Only reason I have a Mathews is because I got it used for a great price. Brand new, I'd have a WalMart brand. :D

I had the Mathews Drenalin but sold it. It was real nice, but I wanted the DXT ( that I haven't purchased yet ). Everyone who has one swears by'em, but who wouldn't for that price? :)

I have a mathews legacy. Bow shoots around 275fps and smokes deer :) I had a Mathews Z-max before it and actually felt like I shot the z-max better..

Mathews LX #70 single pin sight. I love this bow, will only replace it when my wife runs it over with my truck! Even then I will try & fix it before replacing it.
2 words describe it, Smooth & Accurate
Catch it if you can!

Nothing wrong with staying with what works. I have my original Mathews which was a Shadow from way back when. I also have an Ultra 2 that jsut shoots and shoots. This was my start with Mathews but I have recently switched over to Bowtech as the last Legacy & Switchback that I have owned have been disappointing. Both bows have terrible axle lean and Mathews doesn't acknowledge it and won't do anything about it. The process to tune and correct axle lean is tedious and time consuming (took me 6 hours last time) and as soon as the string stetcches slightly it has been back to horrible arrow flight. I used to be a diehard Mathews guy but would highly doubt I would buy another at this point. Now I see that Bowtech has been having some problems as well. My own thoughts on this is that they continue to try to gain speed while building lighter and lighter bows and the compnents just won't hold up to the test over time. Right now I stay with what works even if an older model as I am not overly confident of anything being made today by any of the companies.

Once you hit 300fps with a bow, there's no need to continue at the expense of accuracy and shootability. My bow shoots 268fps and I think that is plenty.

When its time to get a new one and you dont want to spend to much look at the mission bows there made by mathews half the price and shoot just as sweet in my opinion;)

Funny you should post this. My brother bought a Mission yesterday. He bought the X3. He used to shoot a Mathews Switchback and I used to shoot a Mathews Drenalin and we are both impressed with this thing. It has all the characteristics of a Mathews except for the price tag, he paid $329 brand new.

Shot Hoyt for about ten years, love the bows. I just bought a DXT and I think it's a pretty good bow.Shoots nice and tight. A little lighter than the Hoyt and certainly sits in the hand differently. I don't think they are any better than Hoyt, just a different design and a different feel. If I had to make another purchase, I would strongly consider Hoyt again against the Mathews. Not turned on by Bowtec.

I got my first Mathews last year off ebay from a guy in florida. It's a SQ2 and I like the fact that it's only 31" end to end. Fits like a glove and I feel I have greater range of motion up in the stand. Dropped my biggest buck with it last year so confidence is way up.

I shoot a Mathews Switchback XT. I really like it a lot. I shoot great with it. Its fabulous for hunting and not bad for comp. One thing though with all the harmonic dampiners in the bow I would think it would have a lil less vibration in the riser. Harmonic dampiners in the wheel, cam, 2 in the riser and 3 on the riser arm. Thats a pritty darn good amount, but yet I can still feel some vibration. I'm not going to get ride of it right now, but just my two cents. I've even got limbsavers on it and still feel it.

I am new to mathews but i have seen what they can do. I myself bought a new DXT this year and love it. The only problem i have is when im shooting 70-80 yards it is hard to stay stable. I only do that for fun.

I shoot a Mathews Legacy and love it. I am the person on the Barn Sale selling my Featherlight. That was my first Mathews and it is a killing machine I love it and hate to part with it but no reason to have two any longer. I hunt and hang out with a group of guys that upgrade their Mathews almost annually. I personally don't see a need to because the change is not that much different. I am of the mindset if it works efficiently and you are proficient than why change it.

At $850 for the bow itself, upgrading every time a new model comes out it crazy. I bought my Featherlight used about 7 or 8 years ago. I don't even know what year it is. I think it's like a 1999. It still shoots tight groups and sends heavy hunting arrows along at 268fps. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Those new ones are sweet, though. :D

i have a dxt, and dont realy like it. its not to forgiving and cam seems a bit agressive, (it wants to go asap) i have a botech tribute that shoots great and has a nice valley, i have had 6 mathews bows over the years, starting with mq1,mq32, q2, sq2 switch back xt, dren, and a dxt, i think the switchback shot the best, but the bow tech is the easyest to shoot and group, i guess the longer brace hight, i have the dxt all set up it looks great but hard to control and cant seem to get good groups at 30 yrds, if your form is less than perfect its not consistant, any one else have this problem, thanks nick:huh:

Wow. You guys have had some bows. I've had the same first generation Mathews for years. I would love to get one of the newer ones but can't justify spending the $$$$.
Just killed two deer this year with the ancient Featherlight. One was a 220lb buck. The old bow keeps on knocking them dead!!!!

Do not trade in the Switchback XT for a DXT. The Switchback XT is the best bow matthews ever made, the LX next. The Drenalin from last year and this years DXT do not compare, counting everything that makes a good "shootable and accurate - key" bow.

I have a mathews featherlite that I purchased in 97 and killed many deer with it. I never had any problems with it. I would like to try a new mathews just to feel the new breed.
