I know its 105 outside and I almost forgot about getting my license . Seems the state is slowly turning back to old regs !! First week Bucks only for the middle of the state, then Saturday to the close, Bucks and does !! It was nice having a choice opening morning, but it will keep the woods a bit quieter just shooting at rack bucks !! Good luck to all this season !!

Hmmm not really. 2A, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F, 2G, 3B, 3C, 4B, 4D and 4E
You got SW WMU's, NC WMU's, NE WMU's

This is what happens when you bring politics into wildlife management.
Support HB 1760!
If you don't know look it up! It really needs to pass. I believe it will too!

????:o???? Hardly
why disagree with my statement
then ask for support to turn the regs back to the old regs?
It really needs to pass
i know you work for the pa game comission some how. you get very uptight about me talking down about your employers miss-management. but then want support to change what they did to the herd.
truth is, they did go too far and took too many deer, in the northern tier. they destroyed the herd, hurt the local economy, lost a ton of revenue from hunters, all in the name of management and forest regeneration. the state game lands i hunted up there had no deer damage to the under brush. in the logging regeneration areas, again, no over browsing.
i did not see the need to kill off 80% of the deer. sure seeing 40 does and 1 spike a day wasn't the right way. but to go too far and now hunters are not seeing a deer all day. try and bring up a kid into hunting with action like that. they will loose the next generation because of the rules they ran for too long.
you know i stopped going up because it isn't worth the vacation or money to sit and look at "healthy forest" all week. i am a deer hunter, not an arborist. pa lost my money. i don't think i will ever make it back up to the northern tier. it's god's country. nothing like it near us. but not a place to go for deer anymore.
the denial is amazing.
Denial is a defense mechanism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_mechanism) postulated by Sigmund Freud (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigmund_Freud), in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evidence).

Here we go!!!
UB, any of my employers are by far none of your business. I don't work for the PGC. I did years ago, but not anymore. Let it go!
1760 Lets the biologist make the important changes to the management. Not like it is now. Now the PA fish and game board does that. The fish and game board comprised of mostly senetors have no experience or education pretaining to wildlife.
Support change to the heard? Dude what change? do you really think the split in the seasons was because of population issues? LOL I really hope you don't think that? Why do you think they added a lot more antlerless allocations this year?? So let me get this straight they are adding MORE doe tags to change their "mis-management"???? Nah UB I guess you think that adding more WMU's to that mangement plan was the decision of the PGC also?? The adding more doe tags was (because your going to need it). Did you read any reports of any of the PGC biologist saying the split season is not needed? Uneducated and inexperienced politions made that call.:naughty:

Woah, the local econmony is 1 not a PGC issue, 2 lol the 2 weeks of deer season was not keeping the entire northern area of Pa employed. Com'on thats pretty sad if you really believe that. Show me where it says 80% of the heard? Do you even know if where you hunt had any quality habitat? I doin't expect you to be a forester or an arborist, but then how do you know it's not preferred browse or not? You would know anyway. Look it up and find out. Loosing young hunters Oh please "won't somebody think of the children"!!! Thats a pretty lame card man! Hunters numbers have been declining since the 80's oh please! The loss of hunters is nothing new. Not to mention it's not judt Pa that is having this issue. You are experiencing it in your own state as well.
Yes, Ub we all know your not going back up there. Yeah because of this and that and no deer, but yet plenty of people are still taking the trip up and harvesting deer & enjoying camp life (to some their is more than just harvesting a deer). :please:
I see no truth nore fact in any of your writings. I know it's harder to find fact than it is finding words from a dictionary, but try!

I think Ace is right on. Camp life for us has been great. Do I see 40 deer a day that I cant kill. No, nor would I want to. I see healthy numbers of deer and then We counted 4 shooter bucks in 4 days with 4 hunters. I feel that is good, considering I hunt near Valley Forge Park during the bow season. I have seen what decades of non hunting of does has done to the woods. Some still live in the dark ages when it comes to deer hunting. It aint about the numbers of deer you put on a pole. It is about spending time with the youth, friends and in our case at the HILL, our wives.

i agree with that statement.
my opinion is it went to far. i say 5 years too late. some say i am wrong, that is their opinion.
a lot of hunters fled pa in the last 5 years. i am not putting in time on this, but i bet they landed in ohio and kentucky. heck, i run into more pa guys hunting in south jersey more then ever. they say there are no deer on the game lands anymore, in pa.
what ever changes make it through in pa, i hope it changes the way things are managed. smaller zones would help. manage public and private seperate. they are vastly different and cannot run with the same regulations.
i love camp life up there. take a drive from mansfield to welsboro, i think liberty? tons of camps along there. most are now empty, in the last 5 years.

This wasnt a thread to start a pissing match !! I know some guys like Barnes X ,"Scott" hunt up "3B" and there are new Regs this year that affect me and other hunters in that region " Period" !!! I dont know about other guys, but I go to bring back meat, and if that pole is empty, there better have at least been some possible shots or misses to keep it interesting !! I can hang out with my family all year , but when deer season is here , Im a buck in the rut with nothing else on my mind but hunting !! I havent been getting out more than 4-5 days a season so I need to make every day count !! My kids got bored without deer being seen and I will most likely be the last of my family to throw lead at deer ,take that for what it is ?? I still have the passion in me, so again, Good Luck to everyone this season and be safe !!

I hunt in 3B. Some of the guys are bummed that they can't shoot a doe. Especialy the guys that don't get up to camp much.
Me? I'm just hoping that I can get a doe in archery and then concentrate on buck and bear at camp.
If I get a buck in archery, I'll be happy all season. I go up to camp and hunt bear and coyote. Hopefully some of the other guys put bucks on the pole to make it interesting.
We're on private land owned by an association. Maybe 20 guys hunt it and half of them never shot doe anyway. So we never had the herd reduction like other parts of 3B. So I never had a problem with shooting doe.

I have a Camp in 3B for 20 plus years. the hunting has definitel changed.
the numbers are way down as most have said. the numbers of hunters is way down also. But it still is my favorite place to be.
I was of the same opinion as most, thinking that there was nothing wrong with the woods. until recently i noticed how the underbrush is finally there.
it used to be you could see forever, now with the new growth you cannot see as far. So maybe there was something too what the PGC has done.
We have had some of our most rewarding hunts in the last 5 years. seeing improved quality Bucks .
Right up until the Gas companies came in and wreaked havoc in the state forest in our area. Wow what destruction. i had confidence that the area would rebound from the game management policies but i am not so sure it will rebound from the loss of State forest habitat in the area of our Camp near Fallbrook.
