opening day i could of killed a jake turkey but i held out for a long beard. my only day to hunt was on saturdays, this is my 3rd year turkey hunting and i think next season i need to spend more time mid week hunting and my luck should change.

Next year I ain't gonna hike all over the dang mountain lookin for a bird. I'll just sit in camp, hit the buck barn friction call a few times, wait for em to come up the hill, and blast em. :p

Get out more!! lol
Well did I hunt a lot yes, but I only usually hunted from daylight till 7:30am. Thats all the time I can get before I go to work. I only really hunted 3 Saturdays. The openner 3rd week and then last Saturday (which I scored). I have shot more birds past the hours of 8am than right off the rooste. I've also shot more birds later in the season than early. It's something I really wish I could change, but it's work. The spring time is a VERY busy time for me and this spring was a wash out. With considering that I still didn't get a whole lot of time to get out. I also believe I need to hunt them slower. I tend to run and gun. I think sometimes I should just stop and sit for a little in known proven areas to see what might come in silent. Then again I love the gobbling, screaming in your face action. Silent birds just don't give that.

im gonna try to stay put in a spot longer. i always get my birds off the roost within hour of daylight. days it dont happen i move to much and it feels like im too late for the birds.lol. also learned alotta birds will come in quiet after pressure is on.
