We were spotting deer the other night in Alloway, New Jersey and across from the woods we hunt was the most unbelievable deer to ever walk Salem county. The bad part was we did not have a camera to take pictures. This deer had from 20 to 22 points (he was 100 yards out and it was hard to tell through the binoculars) but the coolest thing about this buck was, it had 3 main beams. On the left was 10 points, and then on the right was 2 main beams with 7 on one and 5 on the other. Its definitely a boon and crocket deer, but we haven't seen it since.

I really wish they would totally outlaw spotting here........It just makes trouble and tempts people. This isn't directed at anyone here just my 2 cents on spotlighting.
That said :We only have small deer here in Salem Co.:D

I believe the only animal you can hunt with a spotlight at night is for coyotes and raccoon. You must purchase the coyote permit for $2.00
You can't hunt from the vehicle..

i used to do a lot of spotting when i was younger. with my dad and when i got my first truck, good fun.
i've got a young guy down the street from me that spots all the time. only problem is i find dead deer with the horns cut off during trapping season. his time is coming.

That's not cool!
How do you know it's him?

everyone in the area has seen him, go from the fields to his house. even the land owner. one of these days a deer that runs on a 12volt system will put a stop to all this. in 4 years the couple farms have lost 1/2 the population of deer.

We used to spot a lot in high school. Something to do with your buds on a weeknight when your bored. Dosen't help your hunting much but the poachers sure loved it:mad:. We once spotted a field and saw the F&G vehicle parked on the other side. Stadium lights went on and they thought they had the guys that were shooting up the fields at night. All they got were the couple kids in the back of my bronco with a couple of empty cans:rolleyes:. Let us off with a warning. That was about the end of that for us.

Man thats exactly what we did(bronco) and all. Hell I might know you. We stopped after my buddy hit a deer while driving and holding the light out his window:D:eek: He was looking in the field so hard he didn't see the one in the road:D

Yeah, I mostly stayed around Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Funny you should say that about holding the light and hitting a deer. My buddy was spotting one night by himself and rolled right into a tree on a back dirt road. Thank goodness he was only moving at about 5mph.
