The Spitfire Magnum broadhead is 170 grains. Claims to be a high performance head for the xbow.
Has anyone used these?
Any thoughts re using 170 grains? Does the higher weight cause any issues with the sighting in at longer distances say 40-50 yards?

My dad uses 125 grain rocky mountain.
It's not about blades it's about shot placement!

That's the point of my question Rob. I want to know how these particular broadheads place when shot. I want to hear about the accuracy ratings of the Spitfire Magnum 170 grain.

I would think that a broad head that heavy would have to have some type of effect at long range . But a x/bow that firers a lets say a 125 head at 340fps would still come out at 300's and if the design of the heavier is the same as the 100 or 125 accur. should be close to the same .Ive never seen one that big but sounds interesting more weight less deflection and hitting a lot heavier .high speed bow should still be good 40 to 50 yrds and keep a lot of the energy .Keep us posted if you try them. My bow fires a 125 three blade muzzy at 350 to 360colder and damper the lower speeds just might be o.k. for me let us know like I said sounds interesting.

Hey Ol 20 point...they say the higher FOC the better arrow/bolt flight downrange. Bolt becomes more stable. I have found this to be true and currently use a 125 gr. Definitly considering trying those spit fires...I do not shoot my x bow over 35 yds though. Dont know if itll drop a lot at say 50 yds?....interesting artical below for you though....my FOC is 13.5 now.

I know the guy who designed the Original Spitfires. Bob told me they are coming out with a Spitfire FOC look for it this coming fall.
My last conversation with him I thought he said it is going to weigh like 300 grains ???? I might have been tripping but thats what I thought he said. Apparently will leave 4 " holes.
I am going to call him this week and confirm the weight.

when i had a xbow last year i used 150 grain heads and they were very accurate. i would think the 170 grain head would be more accurate than a lighter one but obviously will have less trajectory. im sure it will still hit hard at the longer ranges although like hunt4life i don't shoot past 35-40 yards. if you think about it those bolts are pretty short so they need more wieght than an arrow. i am a die hard spitfire user and would def check these out if i still had the xbow

If you talk to him ask him what the performance has been with the 170 grain magnum vs. the new Spitfire FOC.

I talked to a Parker rep today (I shoot the Parker Buck Buster model xbow) at the Harrisburg show and he figures the 170's are too heavy.

http://www.crossbownation.com/forum2/page/index.html/_/how-to/what-is-arrow-foc-r20Thanks for that FOC info H4L. I shoot comfortably out to 40 yards and do practice out to 50 yards which is why I'd like to know.

Whats the draw on a Bark Buster. Like 165#. Shoots what 320 /330 fps?
I remember Bob saying most of the magnum weights and the new Spitfire FOC are for those drawing 200# + and shooting 340 fps ++++

175 lb 325 fps
I'm leaning toward going with the normal 125 grain to improve the FOC ratio. Currently shoot 100 grain.

Yea I'm shooting the 100's myself. I use the Spitfires on my V. Bow as well .Got a bunch of them and they cross over between the X and V bow just fine. Bob sent me the new serated Spits over the Summer. I found an issue with them. You can not cross over serated blades in the non serated ferralls. NAP (Bob) said Yep can't do it without a longer retaining clip. He sent me a boatload. Wonder how many calls NAP gets regarding this oversight. So guys with the standard ferralls can only use the new serated blades with extended clips not the ones in the replacement pack. Got to call NAP I guess. The. Ferralls are not the same ..
I m not sure on hitting Bob up for anymore free Spitfires but I'm getting pretty low. Damaged or lost atleast 12 sofar. Hitting trees dont help. Lol
