Ruger gp100 357 Mag opinions

Am looking at one of these. Does it take the same shell as the carbine? Any one use the hand gun for deer?

The Ruger is a robust .357, but the S&W 686 has a better, smoother trigger and is drilled and tapped so you can put a red dot or scope on it.

Unless you were going to high volume shoot full power .357 mag rounds and had absolutely no intention on scope mounting the GP 100 is the better choice, other than that, go with the 686.
