I plan on trying a doe decoy when the bucks get going. Just wondering if there is anybody else that uses them, and try and get some input. This is my first time, and i didn't see any regs for using them. I'm looking forward to it and can't wait to see how it works out!

Hey grt/wht will do, I talked to a game comm. in penn. he said sure as long as it's not motorized. That's the idea to use doe estrues all over it. I got 2 montana doe decoyes one feeding and one in alert. Check out ebay for decoyes not as much as you think. WE'LL SEE!!

We experimented with a buck decoy on our farm last year. The owners son wanted to get pictures of bucks "postured out". Worked great. Very cool to see Bucks walking side ways toward the decoy with their horns held low. Once they figured it out it was game over. Cleared the entire field:mad:
I also picked up two Montana Decoys(buck and doe) and plan on using them this weekend in 5C. I would love to compare notes or hear from enyone who has used them in the past.
I will check in on Sunday 11/02/08 to report my results.

i've tried them one year.
a big old horse faced doe busted me every time, snorted for ten minutes.
she did this for a week. she would see it and aproach at differnt angles and trails. and scare every deer for that night with her snorting.
until i killed her at 15 yards.
last time i tried a deer decoy.

I do not use one but a good friend who will not go out without a decoy swears a small buck decoy is the key. he says a doe decoy will spook all the local doe for reasons he is not sure of. he cut the horns down to a four pointer on his decoy and has had both buck and doe walk up to it. take the horns off and the does spook the second they see it. and will not come back in. With the small buck decoy the does will stay under his stand after checking it out. Makes scense to me, most does are local and know (the sisters). A buck got one thing on his mind, like me! A little buck on his turf may be the ticket. My buddy will hump the decoy in and sit on the ground, better than a tree stand to him during the rut.

Yea after I posted it I figured it was on the way! For A fact I have no proof he ever took advantage of a decoy, horns or not! Someones trail cam may prove me wrong! AGAIN!!
