So my son and I went to Cabela's today, and he bought a cross bow. He bought a Horton Vision 175. Does anybody own one?

I would like to buy some extra bolts for it. It shoots 20" bolts. Can I buy any 20" bolt or do they have to be anything special?
Are the horizonial lines in the scope 5 yard increments or 10 yard?

you can buy any brand 20 inch bolts. As for broadheads, the heavier the better they say....better stability down range. As for your the lines in the scope, read your owners manual. Im betting they are 10 yd increments though. Good luck. Your gonna have a blast shooting it!...dont steal it away from your son!

I was at the archery shop over the weekend and asked about which xbows are compact and 'lightweight' with very few problems. The Horton Vision was one that he noted. I'm gonna look for it at the Harrisburg show this weekend.

I looked up the online reviews and some for the early model were not too good but I believe they resolved their issues.

I've been using the Cabela's bolts and they've done the job.

The scopes are generally preset at 10 yard increments.

What did the xbow cost? Was it a package deal?

My son paid $849.00 for the package. The package came with 3 aluminim bolts, scope, and cocking rope puller, attached quiver.
They have a archery range ther where you can try out the cross bows. You might want to to over to there Bargain Cave first, they had at least 10 cross bows marked down.

As far as crossbow supplies, you can almost forget about getting anything locally. Tip's Hardware in West Creek would be your best bet. If you go the mail order route, and want to talk to a legitimate expert first, call David at Wyvern Creations (603-659-0575). You'll not find anyone more knowledgable or helpful.

Nice choice! I bought the same one last year, and love it. I use the horton aluminum bolts with a 100 grain spitfire, it smokes the arrows. Ive gotten a few nice deer, and just took it hog hunting this past march!

I don't shoot a cross bow but my dad does. Make sure you get lighted knocks. It's so fast you can't follow them.

Joe, got one and it is the most compact, light, quiet and fast crossbow, I've shot including Excalibers and Ten Points! And yes I shot them side by side the day I went with the Vision. First animal that presented a shot took a dirt nap. There were 30 deer in the herd and none moved until the doe that I shot took off running and died just 20 yards away. I shoot the Horton bolts with 100 grn Swacker Broadheads
