Trapping questions

I'm looking to thin the coyote population in the woods I hunt. I really don't want to try to shoot them with a gun. Ibwould like ton try to trap them. I shave no clue what I'm doing. I was wondering how many times you catch deer in your traps. If I'm going to be getting deer caught in my traps I might go with shooting them with a gun. I figured if in use the right bait in my trap the deer would stay away. Any help orvadvise would be greatly appreciated.

First thing in New Jersey you need to take a trapping course put on by the NJDFW. And if you use the correct snares with deer stops you would be fine. If you dont want to take the class im sure somebody on this site would come trap them for you.
