In 20 hunts this year, I only saw this deer one other time.
at 6:15pm He came in behind me and following a small 6 pointer. He gave me what I thought was a 25-28yrd shot and missed. He then walked away.
Got the range finder out and it said 37yrds:mad:.. Not sure how I managed to screw that one up.
he was about 22 -23" wide and had 10" G2's, 8" G3's and weighted about 185-200lbs.
Very depressed and thinking about taking a ride to the canyon tonight by my self:nuts:

Sorry to hear it, it happens though. To bad it was on such a nice deer.
I did the same tonight, I thought the deer was 25+ ended up being 10 yrds closer . I shot over it's back by an inch , I must of been aiming a tad high anyway. .........times like that make me think a pendulum would be great..........

Hey it happens to the best of them. I'm sure you'll see him come november when he starts chasing the does.

I thought I worked out all my rusty squeaks with the few doe I missed because my bowstring had streched making me shoot high.
Even took a few practice shots off the deck before I left.
That was my 3rd largest buck I've missed in the last 23years.

he will be back, the rut is going to kick and with alittle sent, or a decoy he will come right in, good luck you know where he lives, you will get a second shot:fight:

It stinks. The two biggest deer I've seen in the field hunting I never was able to get a shot off. Not sure what is worse, missing or not getting a shot.

Yeah, opening day moring he was spoked out of his bedding area comming down the same trail he came down tonight. I know exactly where he beds. Just have to play the wind game and try to catch him with his pants down.
Phil, 10 years ago I drew on a 180 class 12 pointer. It was a dream buck. He was on a doe and stopped behind a bush 10yrds away. I drew my bow and held for a few minutes, thats when he winded me. He was smart enough not to walk around and stomp to see what I was.
He just made a 180degree turn and ran away. I could not bekieve it.

Had a nice heavy rack 10 pt about 40 yds in front of me monday about 5 oclock. He cut staight up this little knoll probably looking for acorns. He was going away so i grunted at him a few times. finally turned and was walking back at me but now coming behind me. I got turned around in my climber and hooked release, now hes only 25 yds coming down knoll through small gumtrees. When he clears he"ll be 15 20 yds. Just before he cleared he stopped jumped back and trotted off. I knew He did"nt wind me but he might have caught a wiff of a drag line i had tinks on and had hung on a bush.Hopfully we"ll meet again. Will
