Go to the range, shoot your first shot 50 yards or so & reload & shoot another. Let the gun cool & clean it again then shoot 2 more times. That should be a good barometer of how the gun will react in the field. Every gun is different you need to see how close your second shot is & go from there. Good luck.
I shoot a traditions with the power belts & 100 g white hots. My second shot is about 2 inches off, still in the kill zone.

Your muzzel loader shoud shoot the same at the range as it does in the woods. Let's say you stoot at a deer in the woods and need a second shot. Are you going to clean it first? Don't think so.
1. Are you hunting over or at bait?
2. How far are you really going to shoot?
3. How far can you see from your stand?
4. If you are hunting deer in the woods of south jersey, why are you using such a small bullet, and only two pellets? Jump up to at least a 300 grain bullet and three pellets if your gun will shoot them. Better yet try the 405 hollow power belts by CVA. Knock down energy is mass times speed.
I have been shooting black powder sine 1983. My longest shot was 35 yards. Because of this my guns are sighted in at 25 yards, and checked at 50 yards. I know that at 75 yards to aim a little high, but not much. Leave your gun loaded(without a cap) on in the garage or shed over night so that it will be cold. Take it to the range an see where it hits. If it hits different on the second shot, without cleaning the barrel between shots, then you need a fouling shot, before you go hunting.

Still, if your first shot is different than your second without cleaning, take a look at your third shot. Is there a difference between the second and the third. If there is, run a dry patch down (carefully) the barrel and see what difference that makes, between shoots. When I was shooting Knights, my first, second and third shoots were right on. But my MK85's could only handle two pellets. I bought a CVA two years ago to handle three pellets. This gun must be fowl shot before I take it into the woods. If I do not foul shoot it the first shot from a clean barrel will be 3" low and second will be on the mark. Now at the range between the second and the third shoot I will dry patch the barrel. If you are going to dry patch the barrel and do not want to loose the patch, work it down slowly, up and down 2" at a time, otherwise you will have to go after the patch.
