Finally got my first bow deer after 6 yrs and 7 misses
After taking last friday off for MD Black powder and hunting hard friday and saturday and not seeing a deer i decided to stay and go out sunday evening which was ine of 6 bow hunting sundays
About 530 i see a couple deer moving around and watched them picking acorns off the ground and a low hanging branch. problem was they were about 80 yrds out. Hearng stuff to my right i glassed around saw nothing. looked left were the deer were and they were moving in. get up and ready they come around some holly's took a range got drew, shot. deer kicks like i hit it but stops after 5yrd trot MISSED. That deer moved to my right and out of range, Her sister then came back along the same line but at 49 yrds but slowly got closer on my right last reading was 42yrds behind a sapling let her take 2 steps, she stoped, shot WHACKKKK BAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
Smakced her hard heard her crash. Never found the arrow but has a real good blood trail for 10 yrds then it died. didnt need it as i heard her go down. Found her easy
blood stopped because her intestines come out the entance hole which was about 6 inches infront of her rear leg, arrow came out her front shoulder
wasnt but a yearling doe with a moderate shot but my first bow deer
i realized that watching the deer for a while really helps calm the nerves which what i credit this hit to.

Congrats. Your first is always the hardest. And usually the most satisfying.

Congrats! The first is definitely the hardest. The confidence you just gained will go a long long way.

What are you shooting? 40 yards is a long way for a first deer. I like to wait for them to get within 25 yards.... 20 is better..... sometimes you almost have to shoot straight down.... not a good idea...

great job
