Guys,
I'm Not sure what heads I want to shoot anymore.
For years it was Thunder head 125's. Then I tried the Montec's. Bad blood trails just like the reviews said on the cabelas web site.
So, I saw that the Slick Trick 4 blade Mags were pretty good. Only 3 bad reveiws of 46.
Any suggestions??

I do use the montec G5's and never had a problem, but to each is own. My ol' reliable are muzzy's. I still think they are one of the best broadheads available.

I've shot alot of different heads. Mech and fixed.
If you think about it any light weight bow they say shot fixed(cut on impact) style for the best penetration. Cleary this would mean greater pen. at higher weights and they hold up better against bone. If the arrow stays in them the blades don't fold up and continue to cut. They also offer less deflection on quatering shots.
With mech. you get a larger cutting surface (which decreases pen.) and you get the ease of knowing they shot like field points.
The few mins. it takes to tune fixed heads is minor compared to the benefits.
The best out seem to be montecs G5 and the NAP hellrazors.
The Rocket exp. hold up well and do a heck of job as well.
Just my 2 cents.........

I started out with the thunderhead 125's and then tried some other's.but I went back to the thunderheads.Every deer I have ever taken has been with them. Most of you have seen the muzzy ad with their broadhead goes through a deer's back bone. I have done that with a thunderhead.I'ts on my mantle.

Started with Thunderhead 100's. Then Muzzy 100's. Next Spitfire 100's. Back to Muzzy 100's. Now, Rage 2-bld 100's. All have their pro's and con's, but you have to shoot with what YOU feel confident with!! By the way, I've killed more deer with the Muzzy's than everything else:cool:

I was using Thunderhead 100's and then this year they started planning left on me for some reason. I have a couple friends shooting the 4 blade Magnus Stinger which is what I switched to. This blade is highly recommended by professional hunters in Africa for clients wanting to hunt with a bow. I have seen these perform on both deer and elk with great results - deep penetration and good holes for blood trails.

I have been shooting the Slick tricks for about 4 years. Simply put I love them, great blood trails. All broadheads will kill. I prefer Cut on Contact as I dont want to have to worry about the broadhead not opening, opening to soon, deflecting. To each his own though but try the slick tricks I think you will like them.

I shoot the muzzy's they are simple and very effective. I am sure there are many others that are veryy effective as well, however what I like best about the muzzy is you practice w/ and hunt w/ the same broadhead. The replacement blades are very inexpensive and are razor sharp.

I am using the ST magnums and really like. Have been using them for 4-5 years now. 2 of my buddies and my Dad have switched over to ST from Muzzys because they fly so well. I am just not comfortable with expandables. The ST flew the best for me at the time and I havent looked back. Shot 3 deer with 1 one head until I lost it this year in a deer(I bumped my release waiting for it to clear a tree hitting infront of the shoulder) I just changed the blades.

Been shooting muzzy 100gr and muzzy100gr mx-3. so far this year killed two deer, 1 shot through the spine at 15 yds and the arrow went completely through and lodged in the ground. when I looked at the blades, only one blade looked like it needed sharpening.
hell of a blood trail on the other one too-double lung.

I shoot both the Thunderhead and Splitfires 100gr. I carry both in the quiver. Use the Thunderhead mostly in brushy cover and the Splitfire for distance and windy conditions. Very good results with both.
