I believe u could contact fish and game and they will allow someone with a permit to trap your area.

if you call fish+game the state trapper might come out for a look. But just because they dropped trees to make a dam, doesn't mean he will trap them and it doesn't mean you have a problem. it's just a beaver doing what it's tuned to do.

i had a owner of half a lake get in touch with me about problem beavers. they made a dam and flooded a portion of his land. i called our CO and thats how it was explained to me. the owner wanted to have christmas trees on about 15 acres for the tax break, but the beavers kept flooding it. the only way to get in there was by boat. with our region 2 beavers bringing in about $20. it wasn't worth it for me to paddle in there every 24 hours. he offered flodded timber duck hunting, but wouldn't give me deer hunting. the beavers lived happily ever after.

a trapper can get a sight specific permit for problem beavers. out of season the state guy does it. but it has to be damage, not dropped trees or a dam. if you want post it on some other forums, there may be a trapper with that zone permit to do it for just the pelts. if not you'll pay a ADC to remove them. i know one if you need to pay for removal. when it comes down to paying for removal, a lot of people .22 them and they float away. not the right way, but it happens.
much like the north jersey bears.

Fun and bigole, the same beaver problem we all have it just won't stop or shut up. I believe there is an old song that mentioned I went out with a beaver and came back with the crabs.

As for the real problem, the beaver we have has built his dam over top of our concrete dam and if we get alot of rain it will flood around the original spillway and wash out the sides. If that happens, we will have big problems, DEP is hard to deal with when it comes to repairing dams or rebuilding ones that have been washed out.

i don't think newt traps a lot of beaver.
a lot of work for a $20 pelt at best.
and he's in port republic, thats a lot of gas for a colony of beaver.

i've got four colonies within 3 miles of my house, and i don't want them.
low price for them, i hate water trapping anyway, and tough to flesh.
i did get permits last year, just to get better odds for the otter permit, which i got. last year was the first year in four that i didn't catch a otter.

on my hunting land if a colony sets up and builds a dam i will get them. but thats the only way i'd try for them.
