Looking to buy new trail camera. I have a stealth cam 3.1 mega pixel now but everytime I put it out I get nice pics of bucks for the first few days and then they seem to shy away. I am assuming that it has alot to do with the flash. Can anyone reccomend an infered trail cam.

I bought the Stealthcam I540IR
$118 through Trailcam-Pro
It works very well and does not eat the batteries. Wont find it cheaper anywhere. I just got my first pics last night. small 6 pt, spike, does, two raccoons....
two 1 Gb SD cards from walmart for $22.

I have a stealth cam 2.0 IR (black n white only)$179 and a couple of moultree IR 5.0(color by day and black n white at night) $229....I like the moultree better and it doesnt use as much batteries..they been out in the woods since before the season and havent changed the batteries yet!!!!!!!!! the pictures are better quality and the IR shines further in the pictures..you get what you pay for....both still spook deer away....Heres both cameras at night...moutlree first and then stealth cam...

I would go with the moultrie i40 goes for around 180 to 200, got good deals on ebay had alot of problems with my stealth cam. They also have d40 but has a flash takes great pics but the price you can't beat 80 to 90. Good luck

I have the $100 or thereabouts Moultrie and it does ok. I know it misses some pics for whatever reason but it could also grow legs at almost anytime given the places I put it.
I have seen it spook deer during the day light hours when I first put it up in a new spot. I've also had it take a night pic ( with flash ) of a deer at 20 feet, only to one minute later have that same deer standing at 3 feet staring right at the camera.
I always worry about putting it along a trail that I'm hunting. But I guess it matters on the individual deer.

Last year I was putting it over the bait pile. But I was throwing the corn out by hand. This year I bought a feeder so I am not sure what is the best way to do it. So far I have a bunch of pic of the backs and tails of deer. Maybe I have to back it up a bit.
Thanks

Last year I did the backback hand toss method. I got a feeder for Christmas so put it out. The hand method worked fine, though I did not use a camera. I used a Thompson Center Encore.
Now I have a feeder and a camera. The deer were definately shy. It took almost a month for the first non-raccoon picture. Maybe it was the acorns also... a lot of them in my white oak area....
I'm buying a truckload of apples this week so I'll let you know how they work. I'm going to let the deer pile up at the camera feeder. When theres about 20-30 coming in, I'll start hunting it again because by then they'll have lost all the fear...
I do like looking at the pics. its like a christmas present every time you plug that mem card into the computer...

cuddeback capture. Set up is extreamly simple. Battery life is good too. Trigger speed is super quick. They have an IR model as well. Had a stealth and a moultree. Would never buy anything but the cuddeback. No comparison in my opinion.
