Got into some ducks this past week. 12/21 was lots of ice, big hunks. Fun with the decoys! Mallard and a black. 12/23, more of the same with the ice, but no where near as bad. 2 mallards in the wind! I was on a nice sheltered strech of a creek so it actually felt warm!
12/24 excellent goose hunt with good friends. One young hunter who is always happy and works hard! Took turns taking shots and a great time was the result. The geese worked very well till the sun came up over the clouds and then it was a different game. Moved the spread around and got one final flock to work right. Hate the sun!! I'll take a windless cloudy day anytime. If we had hit them hard a limit was possible, but then the hunt is over too quick.

Nothing beats a good hunt with good company, no need to rush it.

Do I recognize that 1 guy from a Cabela's catalog?

Hey Ron, hope all is well. Yup, that was up here. I was going to give it try done that way for geese, or let the ice get a little thicker and "make" a hole to see if the ducks would play. We got a nice buck on the piece that we are going to try to get.

Ron, you know how we've been doin except yesterday when we were one bird short of a limit in all that bright sunshine.

I think I've talked to you about every hunt but yesterday.

I got a call from my Burlington county connection last night, CRYING about his birds flying south, if that tells you anything.

All those geese are in Moorestown at Lockheed Martin. Must have been 5-6000 in two adjacent fields this afternoon. And they were sleeping.
