Just want to share my Monday morning story, got a chance to hunt some semi-private land. I feel ok about putting up a hanger and not getting it stolen up to this point have been using climbers.

Got out of my truck and started gathering everything and found I had left the straps for the climbing sticks at home. Had two ratchet straps in my truck so fiqured I could make it work.

Had scouted a spot a week ago so should be quick in and out, arrived at my tree around 9am just to noticed a stand about 40yards away that I had not seen the week before. Did not want to crowd so looked alittle more and found a nice spot looks like I'm between two bedding areas, next to a creak at the low spot should be nice.

Straped on the bottom two sticks, then took the strap from the bottom stick and put it on the third. Start bringing up my stand when I notice the straps that came with the stand are not long enough to go around the tree. Tied the two together and got the bottom of the stand hung, it was a pain in the A** but its up there.

Hopefully all goes well Sat I just need to strap on the rest of the steps and secure the top of the stand and away I go.

Next time I use a hanger will put a loop at the top and screw in a tree hook to hold it while I secure it.

Oh and to top it off had three dow walk 25yards away without niticing me and I had no Bow.

That is one part of this sport i hate. The best way i find if possible is to use my climber to get to my desidred height now i have a stable platform to work off of which will allow me to hang the lock-on higher.and i screw my steps in on the way down around 18" apart

It is a pain to hang stands but well worth it when it comes to hunting time(not having to carry the stand in and out of the woods each time). I try to find trees that have branches that I can also use as steps.....like oak trees or pine trees. These trees typically have more cover as well once the leaves fall...

use a linemans style safety harness. Leaves both hands free so you can hang the stand with no problem.
