I have been hunting several spots...all on a pile...Now I know that the acorns are falling like crazy...I almost twisted my ankles on all the acorns on the ground...Just wanted to see if this is going on for most?

put out 100lb corn last week and even the squirrels won't eat it... hopefully once the acorns are gone the deer will at least know its there...

when I first started baiting in early september it took the deer 4 weeks to eat 150lbs of corn out of the gravity feeders!!! I refilled the feeders oct 7 and this time i added about eight cups of buck grub to the corn!!! Hunted Oct 17 and they were just about empty!!! UGH!!! They are eating a ton!!! Try mixing the corn with buck grub or molasses!! They will find it rather quickly!!! Good Luck!!! The Full moon could have messed things up last week too!!

I have put out 200 lbs a week and it would be gone...I had over 1100 pics in one week back in August! They tore it up until the acorns started falling...Believe me I put down Persimmon Buck jam and 5 gallon buckets of mollasses almost everytime that I bait...I have always used corn...But since the acorns started falling I have added Sweet beets and Sweet potatos to the mix also....They are still slow to eat it! I know its because of the acorns...I just want to know if everybody else is experiencing the same problems...I am getting ready to set up on some runs until the bait starts getting hit again!

I put out 30lbs of corn a night along with 30lbs of apples. its mostly gone the next day but only a few deer are hitting it in the day time. Then about 10pm they hammer it.

When you are hunting over bait, you are basically just hunting a food source that you have created. If they are not using the food source you created, hunt the food source they ARE using.

Find the acorns they are feeding on and hunt there. I know you said there are acorns everywhere, but there are not rubs, scrapes and deer droppings everywhere too. You also want to look for fresh feeding signs...fresh deer droppings, and fresh acorn hulls. The fresh hulls are still light colored, whitish or yellowish inside. After a few days, they will turn dark or drab in color like the ouside of the hulls. Taste the deer droppings to test for freshness and report back your findings, we will tell you if they are fresh or old. You can also look for signs of browsing in the vicinity of the oaks...green briar, is a favortie. All this tells you where the deer are now, and since they are not on your bait, you want to be where they are.

This is what is called scouting...it's a big part of hunting. ;)

You should go out this Saturday mid-morning and start looking for this sign. After you find it, go back with a light, easy to hang, hang-on stand (or climber, but hang-ons give you more tree options) hang it and hunt it right away.

I've heard your boss is a real pain the a$$, but I bet if you asked nice, you could get a day off to do the same thing...except this Friday, you might not get that day. :naughty:

What DV1 said.....Especially now after this hard wind blow..there will be acorns everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!! Deer dont have to move far for food...On camera now I'm getting more deer that I have never even seen before but only at night....This is because they are starting to get the itch in my neck of the woods....get on those acorns....thats where the bigger bucks will be....

I just dumped a whole trailer full of sugarbeats in our honey hole!
Probably 800-1000 lbs worth if not more....
