We hunted 2 spots for grouse in Northcentral, PA this past Saturday. Leaves were still on the trees, making shooting difficult. In our first covert, my buddy's brittany stumbled upon a clutch of grouse. Five birds went up and he scratched down 2 (not a double, flushes were spaced). Not bad for 5 minutes worth of hunting. We spent several hours in that covert and had 2 more flushes but I couldn't get a shot. Should have been more birds there but I think they're still spread out. Moved to covert #2. I managed to get 3 flushes and 2 shots. Two more grouse. Not a bad opening day. My buddy missed a woodcock off point in this covert.

A few buddies and I would love to find a place in N.C PA for some grouse hunting. Have gone to NH for years. Ride is way too long and birds have become very scarce.

Would love to rent a cabin and even work with a guide for a day or two.

Any leads?

Dave
