If you guys are interested I will stop down to Game Creek and start working on it. I've been swamped at work and haven't been out for Pheasant this year. Any time in mid February would be great for me. Is there anything special or different you would like me to do this year? Give me a little feedback and I will make it happen.
The last few years we did a euro shoot in the morning. Then they supplied a lunch in the clubhouse. After lunch we broke up into groups and headed out into the fields to hunt over the dogs. You could use your own dog or use one of thier guides and dogs. The price was very reasonable for a full day of hunting, the number of birds they had out and lunch included. I don't recall the price we paid last year but I can pull my notes out and find out.

european style pheasant release. (Not a tower shoot - 80 birds)
what is a european release?
Unami
12-13-2010, 08:41 PM
In a euro shoot the birds are released from a patch of woods. The shooters are positioned around the patch of woods. Whatever birds get past the shooters are hunted up with the dogs. Most guys find it a lot more interesting than a tower shoot.
I could easily set up a normal tower shoot for the morning if guys prefer that. Or we could work on something different. Chuckar perhaps? We could do quail if we have some experienced shooters. I wouldn't reccomend the quail for large groups or the less experienced bird hunters. They don't usually get up as high as the other birds and that may cause some safety concerns for a group of guys with mixed experience levels.

ACEarcher - You can get a one day license if you are interested. They sell them there at Game Creek. I'm not sure of the cost but it's pretty inexpensive.

I have possibly three who want to go. I would just need a date to confirm who can go. One question, I saw on their websit you have to be 12 to be on the hunt. However, does this include someone who is just walking and not hunting. My brother has a 10 year old son who likes to come along and watch. Can he join or is that off limits to just walk along?

This is similar to my club.we call it a circle shoot. A few guys stand in the middle throw the birds in the air and every body in the circle who sees it shoots at it. It's alot of fun!!! We do around a 100-150 birds. In fact the last one for this year is coming up!!!! Can't wait and we serve lunch

I would rather hunt the birds up out of the fields. Whats the fun of throwing birds in the air and shooting them. Its cheaper to shoot clay pidgeons.
