Okay I mainly butcher my own deer and have only taken deer during the cooler months. This year my 14yo has been working very hard to get ready for bow season. Took him out the other day and he is dead on at 15 yards and I feel confident in his shooting ability to take him opening day. The spot I have picked out I have to does patterned to 95%..Success is immenent. Now I am looking for a cooler to hang my sons deer and possibly mine for a few days to season up the meat and then I would like to butcher my own deer. Anyone have access to a cooler or know where you can pay for a few days of cooler service???? I have the ice blocks frozen for the cavitiy but I cannot keep on changing them out for a few days.. Have heard of farmers renting out cooler space in fruit coolers to local hunters. Any connections????? Gloucester county area

If you can't find a cooler in warm weather, butcher the deer the day shot then freeze the meat. Let the meat thaw in the refrigerator at least 3 days in a covered dish before cooking. I've had excellent results with this method.

Last year I shot a Maine bull moose the last week of a very warm Sept. I skinned the moose and took the carcass to a professional butcher the same day shot. The next morning, I picked up the packaged meat and put it in a freezer. It was delicious, when thawed as above.

if you want it to hang just take it to Lew's in monroeville and have him butcher it for you. ask him to hang it for a few days.
if your like me and butcher your own, just bone it out then age in the fridge for a few days.

That works very well for small deer (done that). 500 pounds of moose meat or a really big deer needs a big refrigerator.

Offshore angler catalog, bag cooler 80 inch by 40 inch for $200.00.

I have had a 200lb ten pointer, rack and all in the bag. They have a drain and hold ice well.

Folds up and stores easy.
