One in the back/on the right.
Which one did you take?

Both are trophys. front appears to be wider but is broken up, both brows are gone. His antlers appear thinner as well.
The one in the back is not as wide but has brows, better tine length.
Both would make great trophys.

for management I would take the one in the front. Def. older and with the thin antlers and short points he should be taken, The one in the back is a healthier deer and will have a lot more potental next season. If I was hunting state land and wanted a better higher scoring buck I would take the back one!!!

If I was on public land and those two were standing on my pile......I would have shot the eight. Both deer are very nice:)

I'd take either!
But the one in the back is a nice deer in my opinion. But I also agree with ub and albemarle that if you have options and both deer stand a chance of making it through the season, shoot the closer one.

Good Luck! If you didn't have a good clear shot (kill shot) then you did the right thing!

One in the back is the nicer buck. Better shape and tine length and looks to be pretty even - just a prettier deer. Not knowing where you are hunting and the pressure around you - I would think both of these bucks would be super trophies next year. I can't tell on the forward buck if the tines are not developed or broken off - if broken he may have some better potential down the road than he is showing in the pic.

I've been out a few days here and there, but like you said the moon had everything messed up the past week and a half!
Just trying to get a nice buck out your way down on 15th ave, but the damn coyotes seem to be controlling the whole entire area... I called a nice yote in last week, he must have circled me 10 times and only showed his face once for about 2 seconds! NO SHOT! Oh well

the one in the back looks like he wil have a better rack, but hes on the way up... if this is private land I'd wait... if its public land and you have pressure shoot him.
Hard to say from the angle but I like the front deer, only because I like wide deer. Hes a bit scraggly though. Shoot the one that gives you the best quartering away shot...
and shoot some of those better tasting does...
nice pic
