how do you guys cook up your squirrels, rabbit, doves and so on... i want to kill a few squirrels and want to try it out this yr.. see how good it is. heard good things :)

Yo Paulie, I take the hindquarters from 12 to 18 or so squirrels and boil them till the meat flakes off. In a pie dish lay a crust, add meat, sauted onions, carrots,celery, peppers, season to taste. Top with mashed potatoes and bake until potatoes are brown. Serve with a brown gravy. Yummy in your tummy!:thup:
I'll make a stew with rabbit, using it instead of chicken.
Doves, breast out, wrap w/ bacon and either broil or grill them.

man the squirrel pie sounds awesome.. i make a rabbit stew and yep thats the only way i have had the dove so far :)

Low and slow for the squirrels. Stew, soups, etc.:) Doves and quail I like the breasts cut into bite size pieces and marinated over night in a teryaki marinade. Wrap bacon around the piece of bird and a sliced water chestnut(The canned kind)and cook in the oven until the bacon is crisp(around 400 degrees about 20 min). They won't last long at your next party, brotha:thup:

I agree with iHUNT49 about boiling the squirrel until the meat falls off, but I take what little broth you get from them and make squirrel gravy with my homemade biscuits.

A lot of people are missin out on some of the best small game eaten out there, ground hog. I like the smaller ones like 2-5 pounds. Skin em out, par boil them a bit just enough to git some grease of em. Throw dem on de grill, cook just like chicken. Throw de sauce to em. Good stuff. No kidden. I wouldn't steer you wrong when it comes to vittles.
