Not all 700 are effected by this for over a year on the remington web page they had a warning on there and asked that they be looked at by one of there gun smiths they had a list of them. I havent been on the sit for a while but it may still be there it will give you all the info you'll need. But how do you tell when the weapon was made .thats a question I'd like answerd .I own a fine 700 BDL THAT i HAD SOME CUSTOM WORK DONE Never had any problems and don't want any.

I got a e -mail from remington yesterday about this and said MSNBC did not use any of the information about the 700 that they gave them. The info MSNBS used was gotten from some lawers.I did not see the report on TV,but it must have shaken Remington up to have sent out the e-mail to dealers.

Some older 700's came with the trigger's adjusted very low.. I have an older MNT rifle that came with a 2.5 lb trigger.. Don't have to worry about it if it's always pointed in a safe dirrection.. Or at a deer!! Light triggers are rare these days..

I called my gunsmith and he informed me that if the gun is well maintained it should be fine, the sear gets gumed up and causes the gun to missfire, im noexpert but thats what i was told, i own a older 700 in a 300 win mag, hopeing to put a smack down on a black bear this up coming week in pa.
