First band on my "opener" yesterday

Couldn't get out saturday, but headed out yesterday for a quick morning hunt. Had some teal in the dekes before shooting time. They left a few minutes before being legal. Saw a few pairs of ducks and some high flying geese. Finally had a pair of mallards commit and I dropped this nice drake mallard sporting some jewelry. My first duck of the year and first band ever. Cali made an awesome 50yd open water retrieve.-Good dog!:thup:
Can't wait for some cooler weather.

I know how you feel, My First duck of the year had two bands, one was a $100.00 reward band, just ask MassBaster, he was there...

good job and a great way to start the season.. if only that happened everytime... but anyway i cant wait for the southern oppener on saturday... and yea it would be nice for some cold weather it just dosent feel like duckin weather but i would still be out there even if it was 90 out..

I'll be hunting the south opener down your way on saturday. hitting a pond in the woods as the low tide will make for a tough day in our tidal spots. looks like the weather will cool down nicely.
