I call it a case of buck fever i had a nine pointer with a drop tine come in. It went right under my stand and i let the arrow fly from 12 yards and right over its back. then i go another shot from 30 yards and it deflected down. :confused:
I had three other buck come in but they were all spicks and a four pointer.
sorry for the late post i went out in the same stand and alls i saw was 5 does but no shots and the wind was blowing wrong too.:(

the vast majority of misses - for me, have been high. what happens is I practice on the ground, because thats easy and I am lazy. I get real good at shooting at the same 20 and 30 ayrd target on flat level ground.

Then in the woods, as often happens, it seems like deer are attracted to my (and your) stand like you were giving out candy... At 12 yards or 8 yards, you give him a haircut and he runs off...

If I would take my target into some trees, and practice at unknown ranges and angles, I'd get a lot better. I've shot arrows over two big bucks on a military reserve that I wish I could have back... trust me...

Also - for what its worth, I try to aim lower. I high shot does not leave much blood if you do not get an exit. Also - those high angle shots are tough to get both lungs... and deerr go a long way on one....

good luck

Ahhh it happens. Pratice, pratice and then pratice. You still got a lot of time left in the season. You might see him again. Be positive.
