View Full Version : Problem with neighboring land owner

I have pemission to hunt a piece of private land in 5d. A land owner directly across the street from where I've been hunting has been giving me a hard time about hunting this piece of land mainly because the deer funnel thru this piece to and from his property. He's upset that I'm intercepting 'his' deer. I've had a few encounters with him when I was leaving my stand. When he sees my car, he waits and normally has something to say while I'm walking out of the woods. I just kind of ignore him and flip him off. I'd like to kick his arse, but I have 2 small kids and wife that need me at home :fight:.
Anyway, yesterday I hung a lock-on stand in my spot and noticed that someone left a calling card with a large rock directly on top of my mineral lick. I don't have a trail camera, but would like to set something up on my steps to see if anyone was tampering with my stand. Any recommendations??

Has the sounds of getting ugly. Does the owner have dealings with this guy?/? And is he willling to pursue trespass complaint against him if he is on the property??

well there is a hunters act in pa.. contact the game commission and let them knows whats going on.. don't do anything stupid that can ruin you being able to hunt the property. does the other guy own that property?

this could fall in the category of hunter harassment
If the guy keeps it up, call fish and game on him.
they love to harass people themselves

That would probably be my next option this way in the event that something mysteriously happends to my stand, he's considered a suspect.

Sorry for your inconvience but there is nothing you could do other than take down the lock on and hunt with a climber. I would not take any chances with your life because of a deer. This guy obviously has an issue and by the time a fish and wildlife officer comes you could be dead or paralyzed! I would make it seem like you aren't in the woods and if he is at your car and confronts you then give him a reason to get his A$$ whipped! I have the same issue in 5D with a neighborhood bording the farm I hunt. People just ignore the posted signs and walk in and do deer drives ect! I have one guy that his house backs up to the woods and he thought because he lived there for x amount of years he could make a food plot and four wheeler trails, a real dck! I cut that short quick. I know he still ventures back there but as long as I don't see him then there isn't much I can do.

play it cool you have a good spot and want to keep it. If you are on your property and are legal call the warden let them handle him. I also agree that you might want to pack it in and out. It just stinks that you are minding your own and have to be inconvineced.
good luck

Call the game commission that is what they are paid to do. Your legal he is not.

Thanks everyone for your advice; just figured I needed to vent a little. I'm going to remove the lock-on and just use my climber. I'm going to take another route to my stand also, just to avoid any further conflicts. Also, I don't feel at all safe in the lock-on stands. I've used a summit climber for many years and going to a lock-on is tuff to adjust to especially without side rails.

That is your best alternative. If someone was to sabotage the lock on and you are hunting in the am darkness, that could get ugly quick. I hope everything works out and you tag a freaking monster! Once you do that go get the landowner and ask to help drag it:)

From what I understand, he won't have to go get the guy. The guy is usually standing by his car waiting for him. :D
