Does anyone have an opinion on why bears attack trail cams? I just had to send mine back to Moultrie for repair after a bear tore it up pretty good. Have seen other posts regarding this problem. I have a lock box but didn't use it. Not sure it would have helped?????

If it's a flashcam rather tha IR they'll definitelytake a wack because of that. I've had one destroyed and others wacked around. Even if it's IR they can see the red light and hear the pic click. I get many deer looking right at the cam because of that.

Mine is an IR unit and the bear put a claw right through the motion detector opening. Tore the cam off the tree and it filled up with rain from the holes he had in it. I think I owe him one come bear bow season!!!!!!!

The last pics more than a few cams of ours have taken have been the inside of a bears mouth! Always get nice shots of the bears before they destroy the camera but they aren't worth $200! The security boxes are a must in bear territory. It's a territorial thing, they don't like any un-natural presence in their woods and if they can, they'll destroy it.

it could also be the scent on our camaras. Especially if you touch them after baiting.
