I acquired some caribou steaks and have been saving them. I have always heard that caribou meat is "sweet" and always wanted to try it, and now I have it. My problem is that I would like a recipe that will make the most of this meat, which I have waited along time for, and do not forsee getting again any time soon. I could rock one of my standard most delicious venison recipes and call it good, but, and there is always a but, I want something different. I want something that would do the caribou the justice it deserves. So I am asking help from all to personally recomend a great caribou recipe, if anyone has one. Thanks in advance!

Sometimes less is more with meat. You will not want to cover up the natural flavor of the meat with alot of spices and marinades. With most game, I like to take a small piece and a little salt and pepper and cook in a pan. Just to get a feel for the flavor and texture. Then decide what will be a good flavor combo. Sorry I have never had caribou but did hear good things about it:)

Caribou is just like deer it depends how it was taken care of and when it was shot. I have a cousin that shot one in rut and I saw his dog turn up his nose at it.So when I shot mine my guide had a coleman stove and I had him cook it up right there on the shore with just some butter and onions .If it was going to taste like my cousin I was going to just take the cape , but it turned out to be some of the best meat I have ever had.I brought back every bit of it.

My dad and I both got big bulls on the same hunt. We did most as Sauer Braten. Man, was it good!!!!

Pan sear on a very hot pan and finish in the oven until medium. Slice down and serve with blue cheese butter.
