You all that know me, know how much I love the German Shorthair. Those that have hunted with me, also know how much pride I have in my Guide Dogs. Well I'm here to tell you the pups are shaping up to be just as good as their mom and uncle.

First I set out the pigeon and once again put him in a grousy spot. Released Gunner in the nice cool air. The temp was quickly rising so I tried my best to get this going. Gunner ran in the general area of the bird. I could tell by his demeanor that he was on the scent, but couldn't pin the bird. Then it happened. Gunner hit the cone off lead and locked up.

The bird was kicked up and flew right in Gunner's face and he didn't flinch. He stayed steady. I released him and he reset in the cone and locked up again. I released him multiple times until he got on top of the bird.

Stella was brought out and she took just bit longer to find the scent cone, but it happened. Not to mention the pups all ranged perfect. I know that soon they will feel that they are incharge and I will have to put them in their place, but I've been there before.

This pic is Gunner as he hit the cone. He's looking good in my opinion!

Here are some more of Gunner. I love the one that he sooo wants to put the chomp on the bird, but he honors the command of whoa. NICE!

Plus I just got my Woodcock mount back from Last years hunt with the Steady Point Upland Guide Service bunch. What a day. Oh AceArcher, can you resend those picks of us? http://lh4.ggpht.com/_r8U8h4jRYww/THfBAA80wWI/AAAAAAAAD3k/ydfEs7sWD2I/s800/DSCF1249.JPG

Jesse,
They have been out in the yard as we were patterning our turkey guns, and really didn't take notice to the shots. They did look at the other dogs to see their reactions. Obviously the older dogs got excited. So I'm not seeing it as a problem. Got football today. Will take a photo of the mount and post it up. It came out really good.

I still have to get them off of my desk top at home, but see if this will work. http://www.thebuckbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2625&page=3

This is the thread about that hunt. The pics are up on that. You might be about to cut and paste them. Sorry it's taken me a long time to get it done. Just have a lot to handle right now.

Adam,
Well you can free up two spots. Shannon said that she has a "Bad Sweater" party that I have to attend, and she wants to text all night, while we're there:razz:

Training the dogs is doing the same to me. Cant wait till the season starts. Might try to run them at the spot for some resident woodcock when it cools back down.
