Headed out this morning since it was in the High 60's this morning, to do some live bird training with the pups. Brought Stella(Black and white) out first. Took her a bit to narrow down the bird scent as the bird busted a little prior to our arrival to the mark. Her form was good and she Whoa'ed like champ.
Next was Gunner (liver/rhone) He worked really well checking all the birdy spots. When he got in the bird scent from the prior plant, he couldn't narrow it down. After a couple circles he locked up. I Whoa'ed him and encouraged him prior to the flush. The bird went up and he stayed steady.
After he was released to pin the bird back down, he did a great job in the increasing heat.
Then I brought out the crown jewels of the Guide Service. Ticket and Briar made short work of the bird with a double point. Not bad for walking out your back door and training.

Russ, them pups are looking great! i cant wait to hunt behind them this fall! it might just be a better pic but the black and white one is a great looking dog (minus the short hair and tail haha)
im headed to MI next week ill try to get some pics of my training sessions.

She has a tail. It just doesn't get briars in it! She does have really good form for a 1 year old. Gunner is not as inclined to pull that front leg up, but he knows what a bird smells like, so I'm happy. Please post some pics of Dallas and your dad's new dog when you get up there.
Here was the best one I could get of Ticket and Briar. I had to work quickly because Ticket was not having a bird not moving. He was about to put the chomp on it. Ya can't see it but it is right on the other side of the rock where Briar is looking. She ended up down wind of it locked up, then Ticket followed.

Going to try to get Gunner and Stella out again this morning, without a bird. I don't try to spoil them with too much bird scent and always finding birds. We'll see how we do. I'll hopefully get a shot at that big rooster from last year.

Well I guess you can go to the Father Land and get one for your honeymoon present! Or you and I can take a road trip to my guy in Ill. just bring some ging! She is a damn pleasure to work though. If I do go to the vet one more time and someone asks me why I would dock the tail on a Black Lab, I'll end up in the Kennel for People!
