I am curios how early guys start getting ready . I try to scout in feb march with the snow to see where they are bedding and moving when the pressure is on ,i trim the lanes by july 4th and stay out as much as possible after that other than to check cameras and set out the food for them .

i scout while i'm trapping, till late march.
i hang all me stands in the summer. just finished the last two this weekend.
my cloths have been washed and hanging outside for a week now.
i went to scent free D.O. and soap last week, this will continue till the end of the season. i make my own soap now, for sale at the tuckerton show.
i make my own spray also. i hunt 4-5 days a week for 4 1/2 months, that gets expensive, so i learned how to make my own stuff.
i have a ladder stand set up year round in the yard to shoot.
i'm ready.

Alot like ub1243, I went to scent free soap and deoderant last week. My new backpack and other new gear are washed in scent free detergent and hanging outside while the balance of my existing gear is washed and stored in scent free bags. Elimitrax are washed and hanging outside for the season. Stands are hung, ground blinds are set, cameras have been out since June and the first bucks coming out of velvet started late last week. Chiggers are in full force and I have the bites to prove it. I shoot year round but typically try and shoot 5 days a week the last two months before the season starts. I have pictures of my hit list hanging in my office and I am ready to rock!

I've been sitting in my stand once or twice a week since june. There seems to be more deer in the area i hunt this year compared to the last few. May be because of the housing being built in the area. I also through out a couple salt blocks and other goodies so they dont forget there will be food for them. Had the bow out for about 3 weeks. I'm getting itchy!

Been shooting all winter and just picked up shooting more now. As far as stands Ive had mine ready since march, thats when you should be doing the major construction like cutting lanes and trails in so the deer get used to them. Woods time now should be at a minium because you will push those summer patterend deer out of it. this time of year should be limited to deer cameras and fields with glasses. Like I said summer pattern, I have my summer stands,my rut stands and my winter stands. deer patterns change all year long. I have a total of 48 stands out now and dont hunt them all until the right time, wind, weather, time of year. If your in the woods now getting ready you stand the chance of disturbing it....next year do it earlier if you can....

I have been shooting since july. The stands are cleared out and mostly ready to go, dont want to be in and out of the woods to often getting ready, because that will just spook the deer. Just been concentrating on being accurate with my bow, and watching the big one out back everynight. cant wait until the 13th!

Well you guys are in much better shape that I am because I have been fishing all summer long. I have to get my mind off of Tuna and get back into what I really live for. I just started shooting my bow this past week. I have a little work ahead of me because my groups were not what I was looking for.
