What do you guys use for fletching glue on Carbon arrows. I have been to my local stores and nobody carries glue for carbon arrows. Someone recomended Gorilla glue?

Don't use Gorillia glue if you have to refletch your arrows. Look at a Cabelos catalog and they will have the glue, also Bass Pro. Gorillia glue will dry rock hard and you won't be able to get it off. :naughty:

I've been using Easton's fletching glue for two years now. I've found it at Dicks Sporting Goods and the local sport shop.

I had a hellacious problem with my whisker biscuit ripping the vanes off my carbon arrows til I switched to blazer vanes and Bohning Quantum XT cement- end of problem, period.

Never better,

I also switched to blazers because of the wear and tear the Bisquit caused on the standard vanes. Haven't had a problem since.

Now I switched to a Ripcord dropaway and I'm having some clearance issues with the taller blazers ... if it isn't one thing, it is another :)

I've been tempted to try a dropaway, but I'm not sure I want to deal with the tinkering, my whisker biscuit is on and I very rarely take a shot longer than 25 yards...I think if I did more elk or caribou hunting and needed to take longer average shots I'd probably switch, but for whitetails the biscuit serves me well.

Goat Tuff glue. The best glue You'll ever use. I've had some problem in the past with glue on carbon shafts, but since I started using that stuff never an issue.

I agree, goat tuff is great stuff, that's what I use exclusively for vanes & inserts on carbons.

Phil, Ripcord's a great rest. If it's not the timing...not dropping fast enough, most clearance issues are solved by turing the knock to offset the vanes one way or the other. If it's the timing, usually just have to tinker with the cord length.

Matt,

It is the vanes clearing the cable and the bottom of the rest. I just had to twist the nock to get them all to clear. That seems to have fixed it.

good deal Phil, i had to twist the knock a bit on my marquis's arrows to get them to clear the cable on that bow...uses a roller guard hence the cable sticks out a bit more. On my other bow, vanes hitting the bottom of the rest was the issue, adjusting the cord to drop the rest faster fixed that. Are you shooting cock vane up, or down, I got em up on both my bows with dropaways. Let me know how Sr is bud.

Matt,

I'm shooting cock feather at about 1 or 2 o'clock. That gives me clearance of the cables but I'm not 100% positive I'm clearing the rest even in the lowered position. Not sure that is real clear, but what I mean is I have a hunch that I have a little contact even after the rest gets out of the way. It isn't timing or cord length, but the actual height of the rest and the taller vanes.

I'll email ya soon.

I know exactly what you're sayin...when i switched to blazers I had to move my DA rest and knockpoint up a tad on my Hoyt so the arrow sat just a bit above the middle of the berger hole with the DA in the full up position to acheive full vane clearance from the DA forks where they sat on the riser upon falling. Sometimes this issue is caused from the DA forks bouncing back up off the riser also...only solution is to move rest & knockpoint up a bit. They can be a PITA to tune, but it's worth it I think as tuned right, the results are a more forgiving bow, hence tighter groups/better accuracy.

Matt,

I may just switch back to regular vanes. I only went with blazers because of the damage the bisquit was doing to the standard vanes. With the dropaway, the standard vanes should be fine and assure me clearance.

I use Easton A/C/C with Arizona Archery Elite PlastiFletch and their Fast Set Gel glue , no problems 4 yrs now and I fletch everyone's arrows in my group. Just clean the arrow real good with alcohol pad , let dry and fletch . I use conventional 2 prong rest with no problems . Hope this Helps
