Saturday, as it just got light, a squirrel came down the tree next to me (15 feet away), settled on a branch at my level and started grooming.

He casually glanced my way, did a classic 'double-take' and about turned himself inside out getting on the far side of the tree trunk. He almost fell out of the tree. He commenced peeking at me around the trunk (and chattering).

I almost fell out of my stand laughing.

Saw a bull dog one time come in and eat 1/2 a gut sac from a buck I killed 2 days before. I had turkeys try and roost in the tree I was sitting in before. I scared the sh*t out of a redtailed hawk one time. He was flying by and he was going to end up only flying a few feet infront of my face so I stood up and I think I was close enough to watch his eyes become the size of half dollars. Had a couple come walking by (2 people). They never saw me, but let me just say I saw a lot! That was a funny one . Twice saw two bucks spar. I know theirs a few more things I gotta think remember them.

How did you keep from laughing at the couple?

I would have lost it, besides - they were messing up your sit!

Let me just say yes it was funny. I was 19 when that happened. It was on a Saturday afternoon hunt early in the archery season. So it was still fairly warmer out. Yes I was laughing, but I had to basicly put my sleeve in my mouth to silence it. It was early in the afternoon I wasen't too worried about it affecting the hunt.

Seen several people poaching before. Saw a guy one time using a .22mag for fall turkey in a shotgun/bow only area. I had a squirrel make a home out of one of my styrofoam seats before. That almost scared me right off the tree steps. Climbing up all a sudden a squirrel comes running out of my seat and climbs down the tree on the opposite side of me. Scared the daylights outta me.

Used to hunt private property next to a state park parking area and one warm October day I saw a guy park with his girlfriend and commence....ahhhh...rutting behavior :D

I also had a sharp-shinned hawk land about twenty five yards away from my tree and start scanning for groceries. I was camo head to toe including a gaiter over my face, so I slipped off the glove on one hand and started waggling my index finger, which he spotted right away. He got this intense look in his eyes, and was all hunched up , poised for the kill. He started into a silent glide and was gonna be on me in no time so I stood up and waved my arms and he flared off. Not sure who needed to check their drawers more- me or him

I've had a squirrel run across my pant legs while sitting on stand. I watched an owl one morning dive bomb three turkey vultures sitting on some tree limbs, but miss. Heard a grouse take off from afar to be surprised by him gliding in and landing on a tree limb right next to me! You'll be amazed at what you can see in the woods once you sit quiet.

A small fox was coming up a hill and a squirrel came down almost the the ground and the fox went after it.While him was looking at that squirrel another came down a tree about 20 feet over. The fox went after that one. Those two squirrels did that back and forth to that fox for almost 15 minutes. It was like that had it all planned out

In Montana a few years back, I was watching two Bald Eagles flying over head. One decides to land on this big old dead tree. The other one a few seconds later decides to sit on the same branch of this tree, and snap! They both fell a few feet before getting their sheet together. My buddy and I were cracking up, you could almost hear the one say to the other,"Do you always have to be right up my a$$?" Then we got back to glassing a big clearcut for Mr. Giant. Saw so many cool things out west but that one was pretty neat.

One time during the rut I had a peacock strut up to me. Sounded just like a deer. On the same day a box turtle crawled by. I kept the turtle.

While Deer hunting I had about 50 turkey's pass me in my stand working thier way to the field. I first noticed 3 or 4 flew up into the trees. It was to early for them to roost??? Well as the bulk of the turkey's got close to the ones in the trees 3 or 4 flew from the ground out in front of the other turkey's in the trees already. The first group flew back to the ground. They took turns being the "point man". I watched them do it about 10 times before they were out of site!!!!!!!!!!

While deer hunting a few years back, I was sitting in my stand and I noticed that drop line was moving, with no wind around. Slowly I looked down and saw a Red Fox laying on it's side batting it around like a cat. Once it saw me looking down at it, it took off in to the swamp. I saw it a few more times that week. But it didn't mess with my drop line anymore.

years ago when i used to bow hunt, i had private land. just north of flemington. got in my stand in total darkness. before the light came i heard the the crunching and snapping coming closer and closer, still couldnt see, loud enough that i thought it was a small herd of deer, then it was directly below me, but still couldnt see it as light came slowly. i looked down and there was a black bull just milling around, directly under me. talk about walking out when i was done hunting looking over my shoulder every other step, i got a neck ache. the last thing i needed was a pissed off bull in the woods about 1/2 mile from the truck

I shot a buck in PA a few years ago as soon as he ended having sex with a doe. I figured Id let him finish before he went to deer heaven.

Was still hunting on public land. Something up high caught my attention. It was a hunter in a tree relieving himself.

Walking to my stand for an afternoon hunt 3 weeks ago, saw a groundhog climb a tree to eye level. i thought i was seeing things so i walked to within 5 feet. i wasn't getting closer. I figured if he could climb, he could probably jump too. never would've believed it if i didn't see it myself.

Had a skunk walk out in front of me. Up in the stand broke a small twig threw it down near it. Skunk hunched up tail up ready to spray, looked all around went back to walking. Did the same thing again, skunk did the same thing, just let it go after that didn't want to get sprayed or ruin the hunt.

I caught my buddy playing war games for about an hour once. I kept watching him pretend he was mounting his gun for a shot and I was just imaging him making the gun sounds as he pretended to pull the trigger. Classic. He got his balls busted all week.

About 10 years ago I went into the woods for a morning hunt.Climed up into my ladder stand. Sat there for about 10 minutes. I started to ge tdizzy and sick. I climbed down and laid down on the leaves for a while. When I was down there had a mouse climb up on me and laid down on my chest and went to sleep. Cute little bugger.
