went out today to get the cards outta the trail cams. got back to the first one and somethin felt funny. kept goin and i saw that a tree was cut clean with a chainsaw. its the tree that the camera was on! went over to the tree and the cam was gone. they must have walked by it and seen taht it took a picture of them and went back to get a cahinsaw, cut it down and slid the box off. it was in one of them bear safes that you buy the cuddebacks with and it was chained around the tree. i was there tuesday squirrel hunting and it was there. sometimes i really hate people. :(

Yea if it was private, and they find out who stole it you can ask the owner to add property damages ( cut down tree) to the charges. This theivein stuff is getting bad! Short rope tall tree!

its right on the edge of our private piece. im considering myself lucky on this one. had two treestands looking down on the camera that didnt have any kind of locks on them. just got done taking them both down before whoever stole the cam comes back and takes the stands.

It's bad enough that someone stole the cam. But to cut a tree down to do it. Man that's way beyond downright lowlife slimeballs!

I heard that if u call the division of fish and game, they will put one out in ur area with a lo jack in it. The game wardens will track it right to the persons house that stole it.

Sounds like a good idea but i doubt they have the resources or the man-power to be chasing down the low life scumbags that think its ok to take somebodys trail camera. If somebody catches one of these guys some street justice might make them think twice the next time they see a trail cam. :fight:

I hate hearing this kind of crap.

You need to do the camera on a camera technique.

Go back out close to the area where it was stolen and put up another cheap or broken camera. Hang another camera 25' up hidden the branches.

Gauranteed you'll be paying someone a visit.....or at least posting his picture here on this site.:D

Good luck.. There are A-holes that will steal anything.. I once had a hand made wooden platform stand taken, even though it was specifically cut to fit in a tri V section of a certain tree... Maybe bury a few bear traps around the next one... I have no mercy for thieves...

I was gonna start there first.......;). The guy I have shot one last night of bow season. Wife said the windows rattled and woke our 6 month old out of a dead sleep!!!! I know where he was dropped off and picked up well after dark. It's only a matter of time.
