Danny shoots a Savage Youth Model in .308 Win. He shoots if off of sticks.
His load is 45 grains of IMR4895 behind a 150 grain Barnes Triple Shock. About 2945 fps. He can hit a groundhog silouhette consistenlty at 50 yards. That will be our maximum range for the hunt.
We're hunting a150 acre island on the Susky River about 30 minutes south of Harrisburg. It's owned by Mohr's Widow Maker scent company.

That's my all time favorite gun...used one for MANY years!
It's a real tack-driver. Take a Savage rifle, chamber it to one of the most accurate rounds, and feed it its favorite handloads. It's going to shoot.
I bought once fired brass a year ago for it. It ended up being match brass. The only primers I could find last time were match primerss. This thing is shooting competition ammo!!!
One of the guys borrowed it last year and brought it to the range first. He brought me back a group all in one hole!!!!
The gun fits the boy pretty well and he can handle its mild recoil like a champ. When it fits him, he will get my Sako Finnbear in 30-06. That was given to me by my dad back in 1986. He had it since 1970.

Scott I fished Brunner Island Power Plant last week. Its outside of York Haven PA.Since it has a warm water discharge there is no ice BUT as I crossed the Turnpike bridge looking at the river below was definitely non-passable.
Looked like a frozen tundra with ice from shore to shore. Some decent size icebergs as well. (seriously)
Hope you can get across

Expect to shoot 20yards or less. Their pork is great.

I some of that pork before. A buddy went there. We're looking for something to put on the wall. They say the rams are more skittish, too. Make it a challenge for the little guy.
Hope we can to there. Damn global cooling!!!! :D

Hope the kid can shoot better than the Ridge! That guy would miss a dove if it landed on his face and did the Hokey Pokey! Thinking of it now, I hope the kid shoots better than AceArcher too. He missed a bird on a tree branch? How do you do that!!!
Russ
Steady Point brings the pain to grouse! Unlike AceArcher and the Ridge!

He shoots the .308 off the shooting sticks and can hit a groundhog silouhette at 50 yards.
He plugged that spike with the crossbow, too.
His name is Wild Man. Not Pussmacher.

NOW THAT HURT! Scott. You should have let Don or Adam post that. Not you! If it was Adam, he can never take me bustin his chops too long. Don on the other hand? Either way, I wish the boy nothing but luck and none of the Pussmakers luck on Big Game:thup:

The ice may be the least of your problems 12 inches of SNOW.
Hold on I will put you in touch with JOE D. Snow guide service.
I highly reccomend him,
I heard his great great uncle guided the Donner Party so he comes with a pedigree in the Navagation of Deep snow:D

Where Joe comes from, they don't drive in the snow. They float around in gondolas. If they need to head north, they use Dominic the Italian Christmas Dunk-ie. :D

For yrs. I've heard of an area around limeric power plant that a farmer was raising dale sheep and they got out and stayed in the area and can be shoot by any one that gets neer them I did see one while scotting around a county park near limeric but was told I was to close to the town and they didnot allow rifles in the area and didn't bow hunt at the time. I believe that some people get lucky some times in the area and get one .I've heard that there not to good to eat and go up to 300 lb.a lot of meat you don't eat so I didn't look again. But I think there still there.Must be over tweenty yrs now and a well kept secreat In the area .

I can see the plumes of steam (Limerick) from my house and I've never heard of the dall sheep in the area. There's not really any public land out there, is there?

off of i believe is 724 near the river it was county or city park found it by accident heavey woods no signs at that time nohunting just a park sign saying for public use . but remember I said this was at least 20 years ago I don't know if its still there or not no gun for me then no hunting had a bad shoulder then and no cross bow permit so no hunting.but i did see a very large animal pure white with small black horns about 75 yards in front of me run like hell by boundingon all fours not like a deer or dog when I came back to my car a police officer was there an being aofficer my self at the time was told about the fire arm resrtiction and thats who told me what I saw and to shoot it with abow next time there.never heard any more and never went back in that area again but it still may be a well keep secret.

Sounds like a mountain goat. 724 along the river sounds like the Coventry Mall area. Probably all houses and strip malls now. Who knows, though? I'll definitely check into it. Cheaper than a trip to Alaska. ;)
