I'm interested in buying a S&W .357 mag Model 19-4, blue, in good condition from an older gentleman/friend who purchased it in 1980 and used it when he was a police officer when off-duty for target practice. He is not sure of a selling price, and I'm not sure of what to offer. I want to be fair because he is a good friend and my creditability is important to me. Although I'm the Out Law, I'm not out to "rob" him. What price would you offer? Any help would be appreciated.

Well according to Gun Trader's Guide (29th Ed) NIB is $395, Excellent is $313 and Good is $214. I hope this gives you a general idea.

Thanks for the info and help. I checked the gun out and found it to be in excellent condition. Therefore, I offered the book price of $313. He was happy, I was happy. I fired it last night, and it is a dream. In fact, it shoots better than my new S&W .357 mag I purchased last Nov. I guess I need to break the new one in. Although I'm the Outlaw and I'm very, very happy with the gun for the price, I have to consider it "highway robbery." Thanks again for your help.
